Dr. Bashir Mohamed Hussein is an experienced Somali-Dutch academician and development practitioner. He holds MSc (1997) in Agricultural Economics and Engineering and PhD (2002) in rural development studies with special focus on livestock development in marginal ecosystems. He earned his academic credentials at the Universita’ Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona (Italy). In the past, among other academic environs, Bashir had worked as researcher at the Ancona University and as a visiting researcher at the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute (Aberdeen, Scotland). In 2005 he co-founded SomaCent Development Research (SomaCent Foundation), which is based in the Netherlands, and he served the new.
