As a technician, I perform chemical and physical tests to help a manufacturer develop new polymers and other materials. laboratory work will include mixing ingredients, chemical reactions and testing the polymer’s durability and tensile properties -- the product's ability to withstand tension and elasticity. we record the measurements and results of the tests and share them with a chemist, chemical engineer, mechanical engineer or other scientist on the research or production team.
