Meet our newest committee member and host of our upcoming CPD event, Micayla Harris CA (SA)! Micayla read for her undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town and University of South Africa (UNISA), after which she went on to complete her post graduate through Milpark Education. She completed her articles at Deloitte South Africa, where she gained audit experience across a range of public sector entities. Her key exposure included listed clients operating in the freight, logistics, and telematics industries. She had resided in Dublin, Ireland for nearly 9 months and currently works as an Audit Assistant Manager at Deloitte. After relocating to Dublin, she expanded her audit expertise to the financial services and private equity sectors. Her favourite aspect about living in Ireland since moving here is how amazing the weather has been, despite the misconception, but it’s beautifully seasonal and she enjoys that one can feel the difference between each season. She enjoys the safety of Ireland and the friendliness of the people around - there are a lot of similarities between the Irish and South Africans which has made the transition away from home easier! - In light of our upcoming CPD event and panel discussion, we will be sharing the profiles of our speakers over the next few weeks. The journey has officially begun! Last night, I officially kicked off my BCom in Accounting with Milpark Education. It’s been a long time coming, and I’m both excited and grateful to finally be taking this next step. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate enough to receive credit exemptions for some of the modules, thanks to my prior studies and experience. These include: ●Financial Reporting Principles ●Introduction to Law for Business ●Mathematical Principles for Financial Analysis ●Mercantile Law ●Statistical Principles for Financial Analysis These exemptions are more than just admin — they’re a reminder of the work I’ve already put in, and they’ve made the start of this new journey feel that much more rewarding. There’s still a long way to go, but I’m looking forward to every challenge, lecture, assignment, and breakthrough ahead. If you’ve been thinking about returning to your studies or making a shift, take the leap. You never know where it might take you. Let the journey begin!
