Vodacom Group is proud to have varying gender-based programmes including those that fortify our unwavering support for gender-based violence prevention. Last week, the Vodacom Lesotho Foundation signed a three-year strategic partnership with the United Nations Population Fund to significantly intensify efforts to combat the pervasive issue of gender-based violence across the country. This is similar to what we’re already doing in South Africa and exemplifies the power of collaboration in investing in initiatives that prevent and respond to the scourge of gender-violence while empowering those affected. #ConnectForChange #FurtherTogether
The strategic alliance exemplifies the power of cross-sectoral partnerships in catalysing meaningful and sustainable change. Together, with UNFPA LESOTHO, we are committed to forging a Lesotho where every woman and girl can live free from fear and realise their full potential. #ConnectForChange

Yesterday, Videsha Proothveerajh, the Director of Vodacom Business at Vodacom South Africa, took part in a panel discussion during the 2025 Duke CE Summit, which was hosted to celebrate Women’s Month in Sandton. This event was organised in partnership with the International Women's Forum for South Africa and African Women Chartered Accountants, under the theme "Reimagining the World with Courage." The discussion centred on how big businesses can leverage the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence to boost Africa’s economic growth and place African leaders at the forefront of the global digital revolution. The panel included notable figures such as Nonkqubela Jordan-Dyani, Director General of the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, Phumzile Mgcina, Deputy Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Deema Alathel, an AI specialist at IBM, and Jay Rajkumar, Head of Digital and IT Programs at MTN Group. Videsha emphasised to the conference attendees that collaboration is essential for driving initiatives aimed at addressing the AI skills gaps on the continent. "We must work together to implement programs that help create a more digital, inclusive, and sustainable future in Africa, while also addressing the underrepresentation of women in STEM careers to fill the existing skills gaps," she stated. To support this goal, she highlighted that in 2017, Vodacom initiated the #CodeLikeAGirl campaign, which empowers young girls with essential STEM skills, enhancing early career opportunities and representation in technology fields. Additionally, she mentioned that Vodacom has established a Female Leadership Program designed to cultivate a talent pipeline that aligns with future skills needs and benefits the industry. ✨

There are many challenges facing us as a nation, a continent, and a world which can be too much for one person, company, or government to conquer alone. True humanitarian impact requires collaboration. On World Humanitarian Day, we reinforce our commitment to serving our communities by partnering with government and non-profit organisations to provide humanitarian assistance in response to disasters. From restoring networks during floods in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, to supporting disaster management teams with generators and charging stations, providing support and humanitarian aid packages where necessary including the building collapse in Tanzania. We have also donated care packages and supported relief teams on the ground to provide aid to those displaced and affected by natural disasters and other catastrophes. As climate change, poverty, and inequality continue to pose challenges for the continent, collaboration across sectors has never been more important. Today, we honour the courage of humanitarian workers and reaffirm our responsibility to harness innovation, partnerships, and purpose-driven action to help build a more resilient and inclusive future for all. #PartnershipsForGood #HumanitarianImpact #VodacomFoundation
