📸 Today we marked a special milestone - 50 years of supporting Australians impacted by #bloodcancer - with an event at Queensland Parliament House alongside the Hon. Tim Nicholls MP, Minister for Health & Ambulance Services.   📍 The Leukaemia Foundation was founded in #Queensland in 1975, and MPs from across the state met with our CEO, Chris Tanti, to reflect on our history and discuss what the next 50 years of cancer care could look like.    Care that’s more accessible, responsive, and equitable for every community, regardless of your postcode.   🗣️ And it's a story that's being shaped by those who've lived with or beyond #cancer. 💙 We're proud to announce that Edwina Bartholomew has been appointed as the Leukaemia Foundation's newest ambassador. Edwina was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) last year and has been undergoing treatment ever since. In 2024, more than 8,300 women in Australia heard the words ‘you have blood cancer.’ This week, we're calling for national attention to the devastating impact of #bloodcancer on women in Australia. Blood cancer takes an immense and brutal toll on women’s lives beyond the physical fight for survival. Treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy can also cause irreversible and heartbreaking infertility. Heaps of Aussies rolled up their sleeves today to break the national record of the most #blooddonations in a single day from one team 💪 Harper Tinsley, our Social Media Coordinator, dropped into her local Australian Red Cross Lifeblood Donor Centre to ask, "What does it mean to be a Bloody Good Human?" 🩸 Answers were heartfelt, inspiring, and pretty bloody special! Led by Simon Braun, today marks the final stop of the Bloody Good Tour's heroic journey around Australia. Missed out today? The need for blood donors is ongoing, with 34% of donated blood products going to people undergoing treatment for blood diseases or #cancer, like leukaemia, myeloma, and lymphoma.  Every donation counts 💙

✨ “It’s not just for the outcome, but for the people it touches.”   Kylee Sullivan is driven by the goal of improving lives for families affected by blood cancer across New South Wales.   Our recent ‘Care Deeply’ Recognition Award winner, Kylee says her work is all about showing up with empathy, listening with intention, and doing the work with heart.   🗣️ “As NSW Accommodation Coordinator, I helped patients and their families who needed to relocate at short notice for blood cancer treatment, particularly from regional, rural or remote areas of NSW.   “Now, in my role in Services Operations, the goal is to reduce stress so patients can focus on what really matters - getting well.   “We provide financial assistance to help with the practical challenges that come with treatment, such as transportation for patients in getting to and from their treatment (Uber, taxi, fuel vouchers), as well as vouchers for groceries and bills.    “I strive to make sure patients and families feel seen, supported and never alone in their journey.   “The dedication, kindness, and passion of our team constantly inspire me.
