CEPIS welcomes the final version of the General-Purpose AI Code of Practice that was developed by independent experts and shared with the European Commission yesterday. This Code is a key tool to help the AI industry align with the upcoming AI Act, specifically its provisions on general-purpose AI (GPAI) — which come into effect on 2 August 2025, with enforcement beginning in 2026–2027. 🔍 What's inside the Code? - Transparency: A practical Model Documentation Form to help providers meet disclosure requirements. - Copyright: Clear guidance on aligning AI development with EU copyright law. - Safety & Security: Risk management best practices for advanced GPAI models, especially those posing systemic risks. ✅ Voluntary adherence to the Code offers: - Reduced administrative burden - Increased legal certainty - A head start on AI Act compliance 📅 Next steps: Once endorsed by Member States and the Commission, the Code will be complemented by official Commission guidelines clarifying which GPAI models are in scope. Even though this is a voluntary tool, we encourage all applicable companies and organisations to engage with it, as it provides valuable benefits to both the signatory and to Europe's AI landscape. #AI #GPAI #AIACT #ArtificialIntelligence #EUdigital #TrustworthyAI #TechPolicy #AIRegulation #AIEthics

💫 Yesterday, the Chair of our Women in ICT expert group and leader of the CEPIS DiversIT Charter Petra Kotuliakova joined other influential stakeholders at the launch event of the Women in Digital Forum in Brussels. We were particularly happy to see the emphasis on the topic of retention of women in tech professions, as this is a crucial but often overlooked part of ensuring that Europe has the supply of ICT professionals to meet its needs. CEPIS will be closely following the activities of this initiative and getting involved as much as possible. We urge our community to do the same! 🙌
💡 The Women in Digital Forum is officially launched! Today, 19 June, marks an important step forward in our commitment to advancing women in ICT with the launch of the Women in Digital Forum. Hosted in Brussels, the event brought together an inspiring community of experts, policymakers, and advocates united in their mission to close Europe’s digital gender gap. It was a moment to celebrate ambition, share purpose, and accelerate action. At EVTA, as WiD Forum coordinator, we are proud to be part of this crucial movement under the Connecting Women In Digital project, working to trasnform the digital landscape for a more inclusive and equal future. We opened with a powerful message from June Lowery-Kingston from the European Commission, who spoke about the chronic digital skills shortage and the need for stronger female representation in ICT. She also highlighted the public consultation on the next Gender Equality Strategy, open until 11 August. The roundtable “Opportunities for European talent: advancing women in digital”, moderated by Brendan Rowan from BluSpecs , featured Sylvia Poll (International Telecommunication Union), Luciano Pollastri (Amadeus), and Diva Tommei (EIT Digital), who emphasised the importance of storytelling, emotional connection, and flexible reskilling pathways to empower women in tech. In the “Women in Digital Forum Launch: ambitions and expectations”, our Secretary General Giulia Meschino, officially welcomed the WiD Forum Governing Board, composed of Laure Le Bars (SAP), Salvatore Nigro (JA Europe), Samia Ghozlane (CYBERELLES), and Luciano Pollastri (Amadeus). The Governing Board members reinforced the value of building on what already works, scaling existing best practices rather than starting from scratch, which is exactly the approach we are taking in our project. Ana Garcia Robles (BDVA - Big Data Value Association) then led an exchange on priorities for the Forum. Top themes included breaking stereotypes through education, retaining women in ICT, inclusive recruitment, and AI ethics, key inputs to define our upcoming Thematic Working Groups. To close, Ruben Abarca Gomez from the #EVTA team officially launched the Women in Digital Forum, with registrations now open for the first two Thematic Working Groups, focusing on ICT Education, and Leadership Empowerment. Registrations to both TWGs will be open until July 11th. 🔗 Find out more and get involved 👉 https://lnkd.in/dHMeBn4g ⭐️ Thank you to all who joined us in building a digital future that works for everyone! #WomenInDigital #GenderEquality #DigitalInclusion #DigitalEurope #WiDForum BluSpecs | #EVTA | Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya | VILNIUS TECH - Vilnius Gediminas Technical University | EIT Digital | AIOTI | BDVA - Big Data Value Association | IDC
