It’s day 2 at Open Source Community Day, organised by the Eclipse Foundation and EUCloudEdgeIoT. Today’s highlights include: 🌟 Rosaria Rossini (Eclipse Foundation) kicked off the day and encouraged attendees to attend our next global event, the Open Community Experience in Brussels (21-23 April 2026). 🌐 Daniel Izquierdo Cortázar, PhD (Bitergia) called for a more holistic approach to managing open source risk beyond licence compliance and security vulnerabilities, advocating for industrial practices that prioritise the long-term health and sustainability of software projects. 🌍 Francisco Picolini (OpenNebula Systems) shared the origins of Open Nebula and its involvement in major European initiatives such as IPCEI, highlighting the company’s key role in EU-funded projects. 💻 Antonio García Domínguez (University of York) presented the #MOSAICO project, a multi-agent platform where AI agents collaborate to ensure consistent software quality, with the aim of achieving long-term sustainability through a vibrant open source community. 💡 Julien Satti (ETSI) discussed how ETSI is evolving its standardisation processes for a software-driven world, using open source to bridge the gap between research and standardisation. 💬 Vasileios Theodorou, PhD (Intracom Telecom) introduced OpenOP, an open source framework designed to standardise and share impactful innovations across domains, fostering a collaborative and structured approach to development. #opensource #EclipseFdn #EUCloudEdgeIoT #community

💡 The Problem of Data Discovery and Data Quality: How Dataspaces Can Help AI - Insights from Javier Valiño at Open Source Community Day in Madrid. AI algorithms thrive on data, but discovering high-quality, trustworthy datasets remains a major challenge. Much of the data we need exists, but it’s locked away in silos, and data owners are reluctant to share. Dataspaces offer a solution: a trusted environment where organisations can publish data with clear access controls. Instead of exposing raw data, providers can share only what matches specific parameters, enabling secure and targeted discovery. The road ahead focuses on three key questions: ➡️ How do we ensure interoperability across dataspaces? ➡️ How can we collaborate on shared specifications? ➡️ How do we standardise protocols so communities can adopt them at scale?
