“Beautiful things take time to grow.” That’s the message on the wall of the children’s department in Kuurne’s public library. When this new wing – designed by architect Dominiek Depoortere – opened in 2019, it featured a newly installed green façade. Since then, our Ecoworks team has maintained this living wall with a mix of craftsmanship and ecological expertise - including the reuse of rainwater from the site. Over the years, the façade has matured into a green landmark at the heart of the neighbourhood. This Saturday, June 28, the city of Aarschot opens Belgium’s first permanent natural swimming zone with a capacity of 1500 swimmers. Set in Park Schoonhoven, this unique public pool is filtered entirely through nature. No chlorine, no chemicals. Just clean, clear water, purified by a biological system. This project brings together everything that we stand for here at Ecoworks. It isn’t just a swimming zone. It’s a new way of looking at water, public space, and the future of our cities. We’re deeply thankful to the city of Aarschot for their trust and bold vision, and to our many partners for their dedication through every season. Curious to see how it all came together? Final phase for Aarschot’s public natural swimming pond 🌿 At Park Schoonhoven in Aarschot, we're entering the final phase of works on the new natural swimming pond and its surroundings.     This is not only our first swimming pool of this scale, it’s also a breakthrough for open-air swimming in Belgium. An 'olympic' public swimming facility, filtered entirely by nature: no chlorine, no chemicals, just a carefully engineered biological filtration system with the same quality you expect from a traditional pool.   Together with our partner Polyplan-Kreikenbaum Gruppe GmbH, we’ll start up the filtration system for the first time this week. Afgelopen maand hielden we al onze 3de editie van Camping Ecoworks! Over deze 5 uitdagende topics ging het: 1️⃣ Een doorbraak voor biologische publieke zwembaden in België, namelijk: we zijn gestart met de bouw van een publieke zwemvijver voor Stad Aarschot. Het wordt openluchtzwemmen met een zuiver biologische filter, waterkwaliteit die voldoet aan de heersende normen, en minder gebruikskosten. 2️⃣ Oplevering groen binnenplein voor het nieuwe hoofdkantoor van Willy Naessens BELGIË / BELGIQUE. De lat lag hoog, en we vonden een fijne partner in Ontwerpbureau Pauwels. Een unieke referentie op het vlak van mediterraanse wintertuinen. 3️⃣ Een design & build opdracht voor hotel DUO in Diegem door Candor en Cordeel Belgium. We zochten technische oplossingen die zorgden voor een slimme optimalisatie van het opbouwpakket. Na onze realisatie van The Wings voor Ghelamco was dit project gewoon de straat oversteken. 4️⃣ De afwerking van de torens van het ZIN-gebouw, met een prachtige serre op het gelijkvloers, balkontuinen, en de daktuin op verdieping 29. De gebruikers Bouwprojecten Vlaamse overheid - Het Facilitair Bedrijf moeten nog wennen aan al dat groen in het gebouw, en wij komen aan onze 10.000 stappen om de plantjes in de gaten te houden. 5️⃣ What's next? : Er komt vaart in de projecten voor de renovatie van de kabinetten van Vlaamse Regering / Government of Flanders op het Martelarenplein met het toevoegen van daktuinen, binnentuin én groengevels in het hartje van onze regering i.s.m Artes Group. De daktuin op de nieuwe toren NOBEL voor UZ Gent krijgt zijn laatste plantjes, net als het knappe Astoria hotel van Corinthia Hotels i.s.m. Daniël Ost én de groengevel op het muziekcentrum voor Stad Kortrijk Getriggerd? We delen binnenkort meer over onze projecten. Dus hou onze pagina’s in de gaten.
