MEPs condemn Israel’s humanitarian blockade causing famine in Gaza and express concern over continuing military operations, which have caused unbearable suffering for the civilian population. They also say EU countries should consider recognising the State of Palestine, while reiterating that all hostages must be released immediately, and that Hamas must have no role in Gaza's future. The resolution was adopted by 305 votes in favour, 151 against, and 122 abstentions. Read the full resolution: https://europa.eu/!k4W8Jm

  • "If Moldova’s democracy cannot be protected, then no democracy in Europe is safe", said President of Moldova, Maia Sandu.   Her speech in the European Parliament comes ahead of crucial parliamentary elections in Moldova on 28 September, amid warnings that the Kremlin is continuing to attempt to derail the country’s current pro-European trajectory through false bomb threats, vote buying and cyber attacks. Moldova has been an EU candidate country since June 2022.   On Tuesday evening, MEPs will also hold a separate plenary debate on how to strengthen Moldova’s resilience against Russian hybrid threats and malign interference. They will vote on an accompanying resolution on Wednesday. Find out more https://europa.eu/!j6gkF3
