Nog maar één week om de IN Touch Onboards Biennale 23 te beleven in onze INBOX!⁠ Deze zomer toont M HKA op de 5de verdieping 20 opvallende billboardposters van internationale kunstenaars. Happy Book Lovers Day! 🤍📚⁠ ⁠ Today's the perfect moment to highlight The Book Lovers — a research project by David Maroto and Joanna Zielińska on the phenomenon of the artist’s novel.⁠ ⁠ The project explores how the novel — a literary genre traditionally seen as separate from the visual arts — can function as a medium in its own right, alongside installation or video. ⁠ While artists throughout the 20th century have written novels, these were often disconnected from their visual practice. In recent years, however, more artists are integrating novels directly into their artistic projects. ⁠ ⁠ Despite this development, research in the field remains limited. As a result, artists working with the novel as a medium often do so in isolation, unaware of others taking a similar approach.⁠ ⁠ The Book Lovers aims to build public awareness of this emerging artistic tendency. The project develops across several stages. Its foundation is a growing collection of artist’s novels and a parallel online database — both supported by M HKA.
