  • 🔌Have you ever wondered how your phone charges, your laptop powers up, or how the internet flows through your cables? It’s thanks to 𝘾𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙧 (𝘾𝙪) — the hidden lifeline of modern electronics. ⚡ 𝘾𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙧 wires and circuits carry electricity and data through almost every device we use. From smartphones and laptops to chargers, routers and even electric vehicles, copper is everywhere, making sure power and information move quickly and efficiently. 🌍 But copper is also included on the CRM list as strategic raw materials in line with the Critical Raw Materials Act: demand is growing fast, and while it can be recycled endlessly without losing quality, too much still ends up in waste instead of being recovered. 📅 This year, International #ewasteday – 14 October 2025 – will spotlight Critical Raw Materials (CRMs) — essential elements for the green and digital transition, but often mined in limited regions. Whether you’re a company, a school, an NGO or a public authority, you can be part of the solution! Organise an event, a campaign or an awareness initiative, and register your activity to join a global effort to reduce e-waste and recover valuable materials: 👉 https://lnkd.in/dZifT6V ♻️Recycle your e-waste – It’s critical

In exactly a year from now, on 17-18 September 2026, together with WEEE Ireland we will host the 6th International WEEE Forum Conference in Dublin!    Two months before the European Commission will publish its proposal for the Circular Economy Act, this will be a golden opportunity to engage with policymakers, thought leaders and businesses. Watch this space in the coming months for further information or sign up to our newsletter at the bottom of the page: https://weee-forum.org/

  • As Europe moves into the Christmas and holiday shopping period, alongside major sales events such as Black Friday, the risk of a massive influx of non-compliant products flooding the EU market becomes even greater. With the rise of e-commerce, platforms increasingly connect EU consumers with third-country sellers, often bypassing the requirement for an EU-based operator to ensure product and packaging safety and compliance. ➡️ WEEE Forum has joined a coalition of sixty-four environmental and consumer protection outfits, manufacturing industry as well as retail and wholesale organisations, calling on policymakers to urgently address persistent regulatory loopholes in relation to trade via online marketplaces. • As the EU shapes its upcoming Circular Economy Act, WEEE Forum together with other leading industry associations are urging the European Commission to act on six barriers that are impeding circular practices for the manufacturing sector. The sector is at the heart of Europe’s digital, sustainable, and industrial transitions, supplying essential technologies, creating jobs, and providing the materials Europe needs for its clean and digital future. Every year, millions of tonnes of valuable waste containing critical raw materials are generated. On the ground, companies are eager to recover these resources but their efforts are held back by complex, inconsistent, and outdated regulations. That’s why we are speaking with one voice, calling on the European Commission to help build a framework that truly enables a circular economy where: 🎯Circular choices are rewarded 🎯Rules are clear, harmonised, and future-proof 🎯Recyclates are safe, high-quality, and price-competitive 🎯Materials can move freely across borders 🎯All actors are accountable for proper treatment 🎯Circularity becomes easy and economically viable  Take a closer look at our joint statement 👉https://lnkd.in/eB4SxFS5 #WEEEAll 𓂃🖊APPLiA - Home Appliance Europe, Computer & Communications Industry Association, CECAPI SAC, DIGITALEUROPE, Eurovent, EPTA - The European Power Tool Association, LightingEurope, Orgalim, TIE: Toy Industries of Europe, WEEE Forum.

  • 📳 Ever wondered how your phone buzzes when a message arrives, or how your smartwatch gives you a gentle tap on the wrist? It’s thanks to 𝙏𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣 — a Critical Raw Material used inside the tiny vibration motors of our devices. ⚙️ 𝙏𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 are incredibly dense, allowing even the smallest motors to create strong vibrations. From smartphones and wearables to game controllers and laptops, tungsten is quietly at work making our tech interactive and responsive. • 🎶 Ever wondered how your speakers, headphones, or even the tiny motor in your fan turn electricity into sound or motion? It’s thanks to 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙪𝙢 — a Critical Raw Material used in the form of strontium-ferrite permanent magnets. 🧲 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙪𝙢-𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙨  generate a stable magnetic field that drives speaker cones, powers small electric motors, and supports sensors in countless everyday devices. From your home audio system to your car electronics, strontium is quietly at work behind the scenes. This year, International #ewasteday – 14 October 2025 – will spotlight Critical Raw Materials (CRMs) — elements mined in only a handful of countries, yet crucial to the green and digital transition. • 🎧 Ever wondered 𝙬𝙝𝙮 your wireless earbuds last hours on a single charge, yet fit snugly in your pocket? It’s thanks to 𝙇𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙪𝙢 — a Critical Raw Material powering the tiny rechargeable batteries inside. ⚡ 𝙇𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙪𝙢-ion batteries store and deliver energy efficiently, making them essential for smartphones, laptops, medical devices, and electric vehicles. Lightweight, powerful, and rechargeable — they are the backbone of today’s digital and green technologies. But here’s the challenge: lithium is mined in just a few regions worldwide, and global demand is surging. Recovering it from e-waste is vital to ensure a secure, sustainable supply. • 📱 Have you ever wondered 𝙝𝙤𝙬 your smartphone, laptop, or car electronics keep running so smoothly — with stable power and clear signals? It’s thanks to 𝙋𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙪𝙢 — a Critical Raw Material hidden inside tiny capacitors (MLCCs) on circuit boards. 𝙋𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙪𝙢 is used in the electrodes of MLCCs, which regulate voltage and filter electrical “noise”. These invisible building blocks are everywhere — in your phone, computer, medical devices, and even in automotive control units — keeping electronics stable, reliable, and long-lasting. While many capacitors now use nickel, Palladium remains essential in high-reliability capacitors found in critical electronics such as medical devices, telecom, and automotive systems.
