“I've studied with Jakob together at university. I fondly remember an episode which completely exemplifies him. We both had an oral exam and Jakob had his exam just ahead of me. The exam itself consisted of two parts of which the first part counted for half of the marks. Due to a misunderstanding Jakob misinterpreted this question. For most this would have been a fatal mistake, but not for Jakob. Realising his mistake, he still made the best of the situation and kept hanging on. He kept his cool, didn't waver and kept trying. In the end Jakob did pass the exam and I could see the professor was really impressed. So that's Jakob in a nutshell: a perfectionist when possible, but when circumstances necessitate compromises and improvising he can do that too. I would always trust Jakob to solve any problem because I know by his diligence, things will always work out.”
