Innovating with intention means laying the foundation for a more connected and equitable healthcare system. As Canada’s digital health journey advances, with growing adoption of AI-powered tools, secure platforms, and digital access to personal health information, we must ensure that progress is inclusive, responsive, and equitable. In my latest article, I reflect on the importance of prioritizing access, usability, and meaningful impact for all Canadians. From modernizing interoperability and data exchange to enabling community-led implementation and inclusive design, we have a real opportunity to reshape care in ways that better serve diverse needs and ensure information flows securely and meaningfully across the system, regardless of geography or patient circumstance. I invite you to read my article to learn more about the importance of innovating with intention and what I see emerging as the next phase of digital health in Canada.

We’re excited to share recent progress on the Deceased Donor Management (DDM) Solution Deployment Project. Co-led by Infoway and the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), this project is modernizing organ donation across Canada. By automating the submission of data to CIHI’s Canadian Organ Donation and Transplantation Data System (CanODT), this project is also improving the quality and efficiency of organ donation data reporting across the country. Since its launch, the project has made significant strides with solutions already in use across Canada’s jurisdictions. As jurisdictional adoption progresses, we expect to see a more efficient, transparent, and effective Organ Donation & Transplantation System in Canada. We are happy to follow up the Save-the-Date with the official invitation to the 16th #GDHPsummit. The upcoming Summit will take place on 19 and 20 November 2025 in beautiful Quebec City, Canada. GDHP members received an invitation e-mail last week. We thank our Canadian colleagues for their generosity in welcoming us to their country and hosting this Summit! The two-day Summit will include steering committee meetings, work stream discussions, country updates, and dedicated sessions showcasing Canadian leadership in areas such as interoperability, artificial intelligence, and patient access to data. To make the most of your time in Canada, GDHP delegates are also invited to attend Canada Health Infoway’s 2025 Partnership Conference, taking place just before the Summit on November 17–18 in the same location.
