On Shell pipeline projects, the feedback has been consistently outstanding, our design reviews run smoother than ever, and our junior engineers are developing faster under his mentorship. Team Obsidian is back on the bike seat for the Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer! 🚴♀️🚴 Since Obsidian Engineering’s founding, giving back to the community has been an essential part of our culture. This Saturday, we'll join 1700+ riders as we set off in Alberta’s biggest cycling #fundraiser, raising funds to improve cancer outcomes for Canadians by enabling research, advocacy and support programs. Becoming a licensed #ProfessionalEngineer is no easy feat. It requires passing difficult exams, gathering references, logging thousands of supervised work hours, and demonstrating strong engineering judgement. ✍️ But for those who make it through, the rewards are great. More responsibility, more accountability, greater impact, the ability to learn and teach at the same time, and the prestige of the P.Eng. designation after your name. As part of our #Renewables team, Brock Wiebe E.I.T has tackled some of the most unusual, first-of-their-kind projects we've taken on as a company. From odd hours to challenging calculations, and even the occasional “why does no vendor make the thing we need?” moment, Brock has approached every hurdle with creativity, perseverance, and true team spirit. 💪 That’s why we’re thrilled to celebrate Brock as the recipient of Obsidian Engineering’s #OEAward, our MVP award for outstanding contributions. 🚀 Imagine being fresh out of school: An engineer, full of potential, taking a leap of faith on a small but scrappy company still finding its footing. Everyone’s wearing multiple hats, doing whatever it takes to get things off the ground. For Tahmid Kazi, P. Eng., that meant jumping into IT support between electrical tasks, fixing tech issues one moment and tackling engineering challenges the next. Fast forward five years, and the hard work has paid off. Tahmid has grown alongside Obsidian Engineering, earning his P.Eng. designation, leading our junior socials and Calgary Corporate Challenge efforts, and mentoring and guiding the next generation of engineers. As Obsidian has grown into an industry leader, Tahmid has been right there helping to shape its foundation. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but with people like Tahmid (and the many long-standing team members who’ve stuck it out through the early days), we’ve built something truly special.
