| Oil markets could be entering a volatile phase as producers adjust to shifting supply-demand dynamics and the prospect of lower prices.
Exploration and production companies are cutting back drilling, consolidating, and trimming costs in response to fears of oversupply. According to Oilprice.com, US producers are making deep workforce reductions, with Chevron planning a 20 percent cut by 2026, including 800 jobs in the Permian Basin, while ConocoPhillips will reduce staff by up to 25 percent.
Oil markets are being tugged in different directions, with potential supply losses from new sanctions on Russia and Iran set against rising OPEC+ output and the prospect of swelling global balances, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), which said the coming months could bring several twists in the sector’s outlook.
The US Energy Information Administration (EIA), meanwhile, still expects Brent crude to fall from USD68 per barrel in August 2025 to an average of USD59 in the fourth quarter, sliding to around USD50 a barrel in early 2026 as inventories swell through early next year. Lower prices are expected to curb supply later in 2026, moderating inventory builds. The EIA forecasts Brent will average USD51 a barrel across 2026. |

All about Evie This week, Evie packed her bags and headed to Bilbao for the Project Cargo Summit, the annual event which brings together professionals active in the transport of project cargo and breakbulk. With her Spanish un poco rusty, Evie made sure she brushed up before heading to the Basque Country.
The initial escapade included a tour of the Toro y Betolaza terminal at the port of Bilbao, followed by a welcome reception which involved plenty of networking (along with a drink or two!) No hungover head dullness meant that Evie was ready to attack the following day, where she tuned into sessions which included battling an ageing fleet and developing talent in project logistics.
Evie now dusts herself down ahead of trips to Houston for Breakbulk Americas, as well as the Worldwide Project Consortium’s (WWPC) annual networking event – this year held in Milan. |
