This complexity leads to inefficiencies, high costs, and significant environmental impact – globally, 5,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions and 2,500 metric tonnes of premium alloys are wasted daily just on parameter testing and process development. 💡 The SHAPE-AM project takes this further by integrating #HPC into physics-enabled #AI workflows, creating predictive models that improve welding quality, reduce costs, and minimise environmental impact. By leveraging experimentally determined boundary conditions in numerical simulations, this sub-project delivers near real-time insights that merge experimental and computational data – transforming how metal manufacturing processes are optimised.
