We are looking for a Data Engineer for our AI squad (picture related! 🌸 ). Join me and the team at Floy, and help us build medical AI that supports doctors in catching often-overlooked diseases early. We’re searching for another smart and dedicated person to join our fun and passionate AI squad and help us keep our data game strong. 🦾 You’ll be the one making sure our data pipelines run smoothly, our data stays organized, and our AI models get exactly what they need. You’ll work with ML engineers, a PM, myself, and all kinds of people who care about making healthcare better. There’s plenty of teamwork, and lots of space for your own ideas. 🤖 💡 If PostgreSQL, Airflow, Python, and Docker are already on your playlist, you’ll probably feel right at home here. If you’ve worked with DICOM, AWS, or have experience with machine learning, that’s awesome, but not a must. What matters is your motivation, your willingness to learn, and whether you enjoy working with a team that’s doing something meaningful (and having fun along the way 🚀). We’re an international team, speaking German is a plus, but definitely not required. Working here means lots of freedom, fast feedback, smart colleagues, and work that actually matters. We’re also remote-friendly and have regular retreats (the picture below is our AI squad at our recent retreat in Barcelona! 🌞🏖️). 🚨 Excited to present our 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 poster tomorrow at CVPR 2025 from 10:30 am–12:30 pm! In our work (https://lnkd.in/entVq3aw), co-led with Constantin Ulrich and in collaboration with Floy, we dive deep into the current state of SSL in 3D medical vision and shine a light on a major issue: ➡️ It’s hard to compare existing methods due to a mix of inconsistent evaluation practices, diverse pre-training datasets, and varying architectures. 💡 We disentangle these factors and show clearly: Models pre-trained on large enough datasets clearly outperform from-scratch networks! So, don’t train from scratch. 🚨 CVPR Highlight Alert! 🚨 Excited to share that our paper "Revisiting MAE pre-training for 3D medical image segmentation" was selected as a CVPR 2025 Highlight 🌟 ! 📄 Paper: https://lnkd.in/eAQfMKUy This work, co-led by Tassilo Wald and myself in collaboration with Floy and the Medical Image Computing (MIC) @DKFZ German Cancer Research Center, addresses key limitations that have hindered the adoption of self-supervised learning in 3D medical imaging. 📍Tassilo will present our work tomorrow at CVPR (Fri, June 13, 10:30 a.m. CDT — 12:30 p.m. CDT); drop by if you’re around! 🧠 We address: ✅ Small-scale pretraining ✅ Suboptimal 3D architectures ✅ Weak evaluation practices Using a dataset of 39k clinical brain MRIs, a robust Residual Encoder U-Net backbone, and validation across 13 segmentation tasks, our Spark3D model sets a new state-of-the-art and surpasses the strong dynamic nnU-Net baseline by ~3 Dice points on average. 📈 💻 Code: https://lnkd.in/efarKJdf Since publication, the codebase has grown and now provides a flexible framework to implement your own 3D SSL methods, that is fully compatible with nnU-Net. Hei fra Trondheim: Looking back at the Nordic Congress of Radiology 2025 🇳🇴 Entering new healthcare systems always brings a level of uncertainty — different workflows, regulations, and clinical priorities. But what we found in the Nordics was truly inspiring: genuine interest, openness to innovation, and a thoughtful curiosity about how AI can support radiologists in everyday practice. An incredibly encouraging experience! It was truly an honor to be part of this year’s #NCR in Trondheim together with Floy. Pushing the boundaries of clinical adoption in radiology AI, it’s always a pleasure to exchange ideas and learn from leading physicians and healthcare professionals. This time, our journey brought Floy to Norway for the Nordic Congress of Radiology. It was especially meaningful to reconnect with former colleagues like Gregor Jarosch von Schweder and Magnus Frank. It’s clear that our tailor-made, opportunistic screening solutions are aligning well with the needs of radiologists and are genuinely appreciated as valuable support. As we move forward, seamless integration and workflow optimization will be more crucial than ever for successful adoption. 🚀
