Om os
Who We Are We are CAFx, a non-profit organisation raising awareness of how architecture shapes lives and worlds. Co-founded by Josephine Michau in 2014, we have been an active member of the European platform LINA since 2022, supported by Creative Europe. Our main supporters are the Municipality of Copenhagen, Realdania, Statens Kunstfond. What We Do Our main activities involve managing an annual public program, primarily centered around our event and exhibition space at Halmtorvet 27. Our role in the architectural sphere is to foster the exchange of ideas by connecting people and knowledge across social, professional, cultural, and methodological boundaries. Why We Do It We believe that a broader understanding of architecture can inspire change and that it’s relevant to everyone—not just professionals. We see architecture as a catalyst for building communities and a tool for promoting equality, justice, and planetary health.

DREYERS FOND Har været instrumentelle i at muliggøre årets Biennale

We're overjoyed to have Creative Denmark on board for this years Biennial!
🚀 Tomorrow, Copenhagen Architecture Biennial 2025 kicks off, hosting an exciting programme of talks, tours, pavilions and exhibitions centred on the theme “Slow Down.” From 18 September to 19 October, Copenhagen will be the stage for global conversations on the future of our built environment. As climate change, urbanisation, and social inequality reshape our world, Danish architecture shows how the built environment can provide tangible, scalable solutions. We look forward to inspiring dialogue on how creativity and design can drive transformative social and environmental impact worldwide. Partnerships are key to this work – only by connecting knowledge across sectors and borders can we design resilient, inclusive futures. Marking the start of the biennial, we are proud to have launched our new publication: Architecture – Towards a Resilient Future for Global Challenges in collaboration with Danske Arkitektvirksomheder. Explore the full publication to learn more about how Danish architects transform existing structures, adapt cities to extreme weather, and design inclusive housing that strengthens communities. 🔗Find the link in the comments. Join us for two events by Bevica Fonden at the Biennial 🌻 Real sustainability requires cross-sector collaboration, new knowledge, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. But what does it truly take to ensure a sustainable future for us all? This very question lies at the heart of the Bevica Scholarship Programme, which is why Bevica have invited Camilla Ryhl, Director of Research and Head of the Universal Design Hub - Bevica Fonden, for a conversation with Daura van Vuuren, a former recipient of the scholarship. Moderator: Moussa Mchangama How do we take the right steps towards a sustainable future – without leaving anyone behind? Is the central question guiding the conversation, Sustainability Doesn’t Happen by Itself. Learn more about Sustainability Doesn't Happen by Itself here: https://lnkd.in/dYh6k-Md And join us when the Bevica Foundation hosts this years Bevica Scholarship Programme Award Show 2025 at Industriens Hus. Meet the finalists as they take the stage to pitch their projects live to the audience before the international jury selects the winners. We have asked a group of architecture experts and enthusiasts to recommend their must-see events during the Biennial ❤️ Next up is Moussa Mchangama – senior advisor, co-founder of the change agency In futurum, and author of Texts on Home (Politikens Forlag, 2024). Moussa is a key voice in the public conversation about inclusion, diversity, and accessibility, advising cultural institutions, foundations, and civil society on their role in shaping the future. Here are Moussa’s recommendations: Panel Dialogue: From building for to building with: “I am always interested in which people, privileges, and norms are being centered – whether in culture, architecture, society, you name it. Building Diversity is doing such exciting work and pushing for a much-needed change.” https://lnkd.in/d5Qj-7eT The Great Diamond Hunt: “Architecture shapes us all – and that’s why, for me, it’s important that it doesn’t become too intellectual. I want to experience architecture from my child’s perspective and look forward to sharing that experience together.” https://lnkd.in/dj9iqUWv Co-creating mosquito safe environments: “I’ve just spent a couple of months in my second home country, the Comoros, where mosquitoes don’t just bite but can also kill. That’s why I’m curious about this lecture – and especially about the kind of knowledge, lived experience, and approach it brings.” https://lnkd.in/dvJVNbuy Explore Moussa’s recommendations and get inspired to plan your own Biennial journey!

Come along for the opening of our Slow Down: Group Exhibition, made in collaboration with Form/Design Center in Malmö, get a first look, and enjoy a cold Biennial Beer made in collaboration with To Øl. Observation, silence, restraint, humility, and hesitancy are often cast as weaknesses in an action-oriented society—seen as shortcomings rather than strengths. In the group exhibition Slow Down, we offer an architectural defense of these unappreciated dispositions, tracing the new rhythms, frictions, and imaginaries of the great, dizzying deceleration that lies ahead. The opening in Copenhagen takes place on 17. September at 16:30. The opening in Malmö takes place on 24. September at 10:00 Among the exhibitors are: · Rosy Wing Nga Tam / Zhuo Chen, "Community Maintenance Club" · CENTRALA · Dark Matter Labs · E. B Itso · Elin Brissman · Iwar Agger · KOGL · Polymorf · The Yalla Project (AbdalRahman Kittana and Alessandra Gola) in collaboration with Runa Johannessen and tomà berlanda · Stefan Uhlinder · Tonia Carless · The Architect has left the building, (TAHLTB) · Kristiane Fenger and Panuela Aasted (@Stadia) · DAVID A.
