📢Join GWO’s Instructor Moments Webinars on Fidelity & Learning Transfer What makes training effective? It's not just about practising in a controlled environment: fidelity is what makes the training environment feel real, supporting participants’ motivation to take an active part in training. Next week’s Instructor Moments webinars will examine this theme of Fidelity & Learning Transfer, exploring questions such as: ❔How to strike the right balance between realism and safety, as learners progress in their skills ❔How to connect training to upcoming work situations 💡 The closer the simulation is to actual work, the more likely learners are to transfer skills and stay motivated. The same logic can apply the other way round to your role as an instructor: the more you relate learning from outside to inside the classroom, the more valuable your insights can become. Keep your transfer of skills going and start the new semester with a feeling of motivation! 👉 Register now - Monday 11 August 2025 at 15:00-15:40 CEST: https://lnkd.in/dr4HqqTw - Thursday 14 August 2025 at 08:00- 08:40 CEST: https://lnkd.in/dbD_CTZ9 #GrowthMindset #GWO #InstructorMoments #WindSafetyTraining #ProfessionalDevelopment

🚨Roles in Wind: Spotlight on Health, Safety & Environment Professionals As we continue mapping career pathways in the wind industry, it’s time to highlight another specialist role: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) professionals. What does an HSE professional do? HSE professionals ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across a wide range of industries. In wind, technicians can transition into HSE roles with additional education or training, after which they can work across wind turbine sites, safeguarding teams and operations alike. HSE responsibilities include: 🔵 Conducting risk assessments 🔵 Communicating safety procedures effectively 🔵 Investigating incidents 🔵 Ensuring legal and regulatory safety requirements are met Typical roles within this pathway include: ✅ HSE coordinator ✅ HSE specialist ✅ HSE manager Why is this role vital? Maintaining a safe workplace is essential- and as wind projects grow in scale and complexity, skilled HSE professionals are crucial. Explore the GWO Job Roles report to learn more about wind technician career pathways, including into specialised roles such as HSE. #WindEnergy #HSE #HealthSafetyEnvironment #JobRolesInWind #WorkforceDevelopment #GWO #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition

🧠 Human Factors: How do people and work environment contribute to safety and productivity in wind? As the wind industry scales up, so does the workforce—and the total number of hours worked annually. With this rise comes a clear trend: more people + more hours = more exposure to risk. 📊According to the latest date from the G+ Global Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation incident data report, 2024 saw an increase of 27% from 2023 in workhours by wind professionals. Simultaneously, the number of incidents registered increased 24%, an apparent direct result of the increase in hours worked. 💡In collaboration with Dr Ruby Roberts, Chancellor’s Fellow at Robert Gordon University, we are soon launching the Human Factors survey to better understand how factors such as fatigue, stress, decision-making, communication and site conditions can contribute to incidents across the wind lifecycle. And your insight is essential. Whether you work on a turbine, manage a crew, or design safety protocols, your experience can help us uncover patterns, improve systems and promote a best practice culture of incident prevention. 👉 Register your interest to participate in the Human Factors survey here: https://lnkd.in/d-2VBH3y #WindEnergy #HumanFactors #SafetyCulture #GWO #HSE #TrainingExcellence #WindTechnicians #Survey2025 #WorkforceSafety #RenewableEnergy

Delivering an integrated technician workforce for a just energy transition between oil and gas to wind has moved a step closer, thanks to a successful pilot cross-skill programme.💡 Eight learners completed the six-week programme at Grangemouth last week, with a further seven due to finish in Aberdeen this Friday. We developed the pilot programme in partnership with Global Wind Organisation (GWO) and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE) to support the two-way deployments across oil and gas and wind infrastructure. Among the 15 learners are employees from Wood, Petrofac, Semco Maritime and Ponticelli UK, as well as ECITB-supported individuals and five former Mechanical Technicians from Grangemouth Oil Refinery. Many are now set to move directly into roles on wind assets.
