🌲 The York Region (The Regional Municipality of York) in Ontario, #Canada, has reached a significant milestone: 25 years of Forest Stewardship Council (#FSC) certification for both Forest Management and Chain of Custody. ✅ A total of 2,379 hectares within the York Regional Forest are currently certified. York’s public forest was the first in Canada to obtain FSC certification in 2000. 🍁 Since then, the region has continued to demonstrate responsible forest management practices rooted in environmental, social and economic #sustainability. 🌎 Its Greening Strategy has also guided #reforestation, biodiversity and public engagement efforts across the region’s diverse landscapes. Preferred by Nature is proud to serve as the certification body for this achievement. Congratulations to York Region on 25 years of commitment to FSC-certified forest management! 👏
