Tag Galaxy

Here is a cool addition to the land of Flickr - very nice application to explore Flickr photos via virtual planetary systems.

You enter a tag, and the related galaxy appears on screen. Each planet contains the pictures of a certain tag, and when you click on them, the images are placed on a 3D rotating globe.

Explore the sky with Google Earth!

With about a hundred million stars and two hundred million galaxies, Sky in Google Earth lets you explore the heavens like never before.

To navigate to Sky, you need the latest version Google Earth 4.2. A tiny round black icon with a planet resembling Saturn will then appear in the toolbar. Click on this to switch from Google Earth's Earth mode to Sky mode.

Winter Haven on Mars

The picture was taken by the NASA robot “Spirit” over the course of 5 months. The 'McMurdo' panorama is a combination of more than 1400 individual pictures which were taken when the lack of sunlight didn’t allow the rover to move during the Marsian winter. Now, you can view it in 3D here.
