Did you know? The phrase "toe the line"- meaning to conform or follow the rules- has nautical origins! Sailors were once required to stand barefoot at attention for inspection, aligning their toes neatly along the seams of the wooden deck planks. This practice of literally “toeing the line” became a symbol of discipline and order- both on deck and in language. Even today, maritime traditions continue to shape the expressions we use on land!

【🛟Honoring Crew Excellence in Upholding Our Safety Commitment🦺 】 Two of our vessels demonstrated exceptional commitment to maritime safety by rescuing distressed individuals in separate regions of the oceans. 🛳️ On 15 March, The chemical tanker ENSEMBLE, operated by MOL Chemical Tankers Pte. Ltd., found 3 people adrift in the sea and successfully rescued them off the western coast of South America in the Pacific Ocean. 🛳️ On 23 June, The LNG carrier ENERGY UNIVERSE, managed by MOL LNG Transport Co., Ltd., received a request from the Boston Rescue Coordination Centre to engage in a rescue operation for distressed Yachtsman. The Master and crew succeeded in rescuing the occupant in the North Atlantic Ocean. These courageous actions not only set an exemplary standard for seafarers worldwide, but also uplift the morale of all seafarers. In recognition of their outstanding efforts, the Head of the Safe Operation Headquarters of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. commended the Masters and crews of both vessels. 👏 We are proud to acknowledge and celebrate their dedication to safety and humanity at sea. #MOL #Shipping #seafarers #crew #safety

Powering Global Energy: MOL’s Crude Oil & LPG Tankers Tankers play an essential role in the global energy supply chain, transporting crude oil- our primary energy source- as well as liquefied petroleum gases like propane and butane. Beyond their core transport function, these vessels can also serve as offshore storage terminals, thanks to their segmented tank structures. Among these are crude oil tankers, which help meet energy demand worldwide, and LPG tankers, which require highly specialized handling and technology to safely manage their ultra-cold or pressurized cargo. Crude oil tankers are built to handle varying cargo properties depending on the oil’s origin. To manage this, their tanks are divided lengthwise and crosswise into multiple blocks. Discharging usually takes place at offshore terminals, where the vessel’s pipes are connected directly to those at the sea berth. Crude oil remains vital to modern life, and as global demand increased, tankers grew larger to boost efficiency. The first Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) was launched in the 1960s, and today tankers of various sizes ensure a stable and efficient global supply of oil. LPG tankers, or Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs), are used to transport propane and butane over long distances. Since liquefied propane and butane must be kept below their respective boiling points (−42.2°C and −0.5°C), cargo tanks are made from special steel and equipped with re-liquefaction systems to maintain ultra-low temperatures. Smaller LPG tankers, such as coastal vessels, use pressure to liquefy cargo instead of cooling. To reduce environmental impact, the newest VLGCs are equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of running on LPG, significantly lowering emissions of CO₂, SOx, and particulate matter. With these innovations, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) continues to support the safe, reliable, and responsible transport of critical energy cargoes around the world. 🎉AiP for Floating Ammonia Cracker Unit for Onshore Hydrogen Supply Solution🎉 We are thrilled to announce that MOL, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. (HD KSOE), and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI) were granted Approval in Principle (AiP) from Lloyd's Register for Floating Ammonia Cracker Unit (FACU), jointly developed by the group for onshore hydrogen supply. FACU is a solution that enables direct hydrogen supply from offshore to onshore by equipping vessels with technology that thermally decomposes ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen. It is expected to accelerate the use of hydrogen energy toward the realization of a decarbonized society. MOL, HD KSOE and HHI have finalized the conceptual design, including the process layout and general arrangement of FACU. In support of this achievement, Kellogg Brown & Root LLC (KBR) collaborated on the ammonia cracking process and module design, enabling a single-train capacity of 1,000 ton/day hydrogen supply based on H2ACT® technology, and Amogy Inc. (AMOGY) has provided a new catalyst solution.
