CEO @ AMEX Healthcare | EY Entrepreneur of the year I Business as a force for good

Rwanda never fails to amaze me - regardless of what I do. I started my day with a morning run through a random Kigali neighborhood—organized, safe and wrapped in the scenic hills that define the city’s charm. Later, I spent the day meeting highly capable, engaged stakeholders from NGOs, private and government - impressive to see the will to drive the country forward. No wonder that Rwanda’s GDP consistently ranks as one of the 5 fastest growing countries worldwide (without relying on natural resources or access to sea): last year Rwanda’s economy grew by ~10%. It is a priviledge for us at AMEX Healthcare to work in such an inspiring environment.

The Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB recently laid the first of its kind, made by voestalpine from scrap and hydrogen-reduced pure iron. 🚴♀️ The state of Burgenland now has Austria’s first cycle path made from CO2-storing "green" asphalt. Developed in cooperation with PORR Group, it contains around 5% biochar, produced from agricultural residues such as broken reeds. 💎 New mineral named "Ertlit" after Austrian mineralogist Andreas Ertl. The newly recognised mineral belongs to the tourmaline group. Tourmalines are used, among other things, as gemstones and for technical applications. The aluminum- and boron-rich tourmaline "Ertlit" was named after the internationally renowned mineralogist and crystallographer Dr. Andreas Ertl, employed at the Naturhistorisches Museum Wien (Natural History Museum Vienna). Dr. Ertl has been working on tourmalines for 30 years and has discovered and studied numerous new minerals himself. New minerals are usually inconspicuous and only visible under a magnifying glass. The new tourmaline "Ertlit" can be pink, yellow-brown, or colorless, and forms crystals up to 1 cm long, as well as round aggregates. Its special feature: it is the richest in boron of all known tourmalines worldwide. Initially described from Madagascar and Myanmar, "Ertlit" has now surprisingly been found in Austria, specifically in the Koralpe region of Styria. There, it forms crystals up to several centimeters long, which can be colorless, light green, or light blue. #advantageaustria #surprisinglyingenious Source: Natural History Museum Vienna Photo Credits © Robert Krickl

🍰 Austria's Sachertorte ranks among the world's best chocolate cakes! The international food platform TasteAtlas has just published its latest ranking of the world's best chocolate cakes - and a sweet Austrian classic made it into the top 10. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲! Austria's most famous cake consists of a classic chocolate sponge cake, thinly coated with apricot jam and covered with a chocolate glaze. It is often served with a dollop of unsweetened whipped cream. It was created in 1832 by 16-year-old Franz Sacher for Prince Metternich. Later, his son Eduard made it world-famous at Vienna's Hotel Sacher, where the "Original Sachertorte" is still served today, sealed with an official chocolate stamp. By the way: The 1st place in the TasteAtlas ranking went to Sweden's Kladdkaka. Chapeau, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Nordics 😉 __________________________ Enjoyed this Post?
