We are halfway through the immersion operation of the Scheldt Tunnel! The fourth of eight tunnel elements has been successfully immersed and positioned on the riverbed of the Scheldt. The operation started in July 2025, and now four massive elements, each weighing 60,000 tons, rest on the bottom of the river. The remaining tunnel elements will be immersed in the following order: 5, 6, 8, and finally 7. Why end with element 7? Because element 8 connects directly to the fixed tunnel section on the Right Bank. If element 7 were already in place, it would be impossible to sail over it with element 8, as the water is simply not deep enough. #worldbuilders #smoothmobility #ditisoosterweel Together with: BESIX, STADSBADER CONTRACTORS NV, DEME Group, Lantis, IMMONTEC, COTU

Meet Frederic, Captain on board Voltaire — our largest jack-up vessel helping to build the offshore wind farms of tomorrow. From evaluating weather conditions and ensuring the vessel’s reliability to coaching young talent on board—his role perfectly blends technology and teamwork. As Captain, Frederic takes pride in creating a safe environment where everyone can be the best version of themselves. Frederic: “My job aboard Voltaire is dynamic and combines my two passions: technology and working with people.” #worldbuilders #voltaire #offshoreenergy

We have set a record at the Fengmiao offshore wind farm in Taiwan, installing two Horizontal Directional Drillings (HDDs) of approximately 1,750 metres each – the longest ever in Taiwan offshore wind industry and in our company’s history. These HDDs are essentially two underground cable tunnels that allow us to bring the wind farm’s export cables safely from offshore to onshore. Instead of digging trenches along the coastline or seabed, we drill a curved tunnel beneath the beach and shallow water. This provides a clean way to bring green wind energy ashore, minimises disruption to the environment, keeps the coastline intact, and ensures a safer and more efficient installation of the cables. At the Fengmiao offshore wind farm project we are responsible for the transport, installation, and trenching of the export cables that connect the wind farm to shore. #worldbuilders #offshoreenergy #taiwan #fengmiao #energytransition

Last week we organised a full day dedicated to safety. During our Safety Day, 380 colleagues from our Belgian sites came together to strengthen their knowledge and skills in safe working practices. The programme combined interactive training on our five main safety challenges with hands-on workshops such as working with aerial platforms, concrete control, lasers and excavators, alongside tailor-made sessions for specific techniques. A day of learning, connecting and sharing with one clear goal: ensuring that everyone returns home safely at the end of the day. #worldbuilders #safety #learninganddevelopment #training #safetytraining

Proud to open this 56-meter cycling bridge over the Schipdonk canal in Nevele, Belgium. More than just an eye-catcher, it replaces the old concrete bridge that stood too low for ships carrying three layers of containers. It is an investment in sustainable transport, enabling more goods to move over water instead of road within the European waterway network. Transporting goods by water eases road congestion, lowers emissions, and paves the way for a smarter, greener future. A few weeks ago, we installed 200,000 young oysters on the bottom of the Belgian North Sea. How did we get to this point? Our colleagues Vicky and Phara explain in detail how we are working on large-scale oyster restoration. Together with the FOD Volksgezondheid, Veiligheid van de Voedselketen en Leefmilieu, Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, Shells & Valves, Mantis Consulting, Stichting Zeeschelp and Oyster Heaven. #worldbuilders #boostbiodiversity #naturerestoration #BELREEFS #oysterreef #NORA

Halfway milestone reached: our jack-up installation vessel Vole au vent successfully installed the 31st of 61 wind turbines at the EMYN Les Éoliennes en Mer Services wind farm. Once operational, the wind farm off the French coast will produce enough renewable electricity to power around 800,000 people each year. This achievement is the result of great teamwork between EMYN, SGRE and our dedicated teams. #worldbuilders #enerygtransition #france Les Éoliennes en Mer Services Siemens Gamesa

“Working on Palm Jebel Ali is both exciting and challenging, with so many activities happening at the same time. As soon as we finish one part, the next team is already in position. Coordinating the many activities and equipment from hopper dredgers to dump trucks, excavators, bulldozers, compactors, and vibro stone columns - along with nearly 400 Can-Do people working side by side - is what keeps this project moving forward every day.” - Melanie, Superintendent at Palm Jebel Ali. In Dubai, we are dredging 13 million cubic metres of sand and preparing over 90 kilometres of future beachfront for Palm Jebel Ali, a palm shaped archipelago. With a team of 400 specialists and a wide range of equipment, this is coastal engineering at scale. #worldbuilders #palmjebelali #dredgingsolutions #dubai #uae NakheelOfficial

At the beginning of August, we successfully installed the third tunnel element of the Scheldt Tunnel in Antwerp, another step forward in this major Oosterweel Link project. Before installation, our teams carry out meticulous groundwork. Using a cutter suction dredger, four split hopper barges, and a backhoe dredger, we excavated the tunnel trench and now precisely prepare the seabed for each tunnel element. With strong currents, busy shipping traffic, and tight tolerances, this is a true feat of dredging expertise, made possible by our most skilled crews. UV does not take breaks. That is why we have launched a pilot project at selected locations with sunscreen dispensers, allowing every colleague to protect their skin each day. The goal? By next summer, we aim to provide all colleagues working outdoors with easy access to sun protection. Because safety is not only about helmets and harnesses, it is also about SPF. #worldbuilders #safety #sunscreen
