From 20–24 August, more than 10,000 ships and over 2 million visitors gathered in Amsterdam for the world’s largest free maritime event. This special edition of SAIL celebrated three milestones at once: its 10th edition, the 50th anniversary and Amsterdam’s 750th birthday. To keep such massive events running, a reliable and sustainable energy supply is essential. That’s where rental power firm Bredenoord and energy specialist Alfen come in. Bredenoord, our trusted partner since 2021, provided the temporary power setup with a hybrid configuration: 🔋 Power generators with advanced aftertreatment technology (including AdBlue injection) to drastically reduce harmful emissions. 🔋 3 of Alfen’s 300kW TheBattery Mobile systems to absorb peak demand and supply clean power when the generators are not running. This smart setup ensures that the generators only run when needed, reducing fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. The result: a more efficient, cleaner and quieter energy supply for hospitality points along the quay and for providing shore power to boats – perfectly in line with Amsterdam’s ambition to become climate neutral by 2050. We’re proud that Alfen technology is part of greening one of the Netherlands’ most iconic events. The poll results are in! 🗳️ 67% of you said utility-scale battery storage is the key to scaling wind energy in Europe, and we agree. But it’s worth noting that 24% voted for neighbourhood batteries and 9% for home batteries. Construction is underway for one of our largest battery energy storage systems to date: a 31.6MW/126.4MWh system in Dronten, in the central region of the Netherlands. Piling work in the Dutch polder landscape has started, marking the first visible milestone on site for our customer, community-backed green-energy initiative FlevoBESS. This 4-hour system – meaning it can deliver 31.6MW of power for four hours continuously – is designed to support grid stability during peak load periods, enable better integration of renewable sources and offer long-duration flexibility for market operators. A new fast EV charging site is only as good as its grid connection. This 400kVA Altro walk-in substation, recently delivered and installed in Anderlecht, ensures that high power chargers (150kW each) have the grid support they need to operate reliably – even at busy public locations.
