#FletcherFlashbackFriday This week marks 27 years since the launch of our business Golden Bay’s pioneering cement carrier, MV Golden Bay – the very first of her kind to serve New Zealand waters. Built by Henry Robb, she was launched in Leith, Scotland on August 27, 1953, right where she was constructed. After a 61-day voyage covering 13,500 miles to reach New Zealand, she was ready to make her first cement load at the Golden Bay Cement works in Tarakohe, Nelson, in 1955. Her pioneering design set the stage for a fleet of specialist vessels — MV Cement King, MV Pacific Ocean, MV John Wilson, MV Lingar Bay, and later MV Golden Bay II. For more than two decades until her retirement in 1981, she served as a proud workhorse, becoming the vital link between Tarakohe and Wellington - transporting thousands of tonnes of cement that helped build the backbone of New Zealand’s infrastructure. Today, her spirit lives on in the Golden Bay's MV Aotearoa Chief, operating out of Portland, Whangārei, still delivering the cement that builds our communities.🚢 #HeavyBuildingMaterials #FletcherBuilding #BetterTogether #Business Photos courtesy of the Fletcher Trust Archives - https://lnkd.in/gQffcNw

Our FB Australia team turned reconciliation into action earlier this month, when they volunteered with FareShare's Meals for the Mob programme in Brisbane, preparing and serving 1,813 meals in just one day. Alongside this effort, the team donated $5,500, which will fund a further 1,572 meals, bringing the team’s total impact to 3,385 meals for First Nations communities in need. Launched in 2022, Meals for the Mob has already delivered over 200,000 free, healthy, and culturally appropriate meals to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families experiencing food insecurity. This initiative is an example of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in practice, and a reminder that small acts of service can add up to big impacts for communities. 👏 A huge thank you to our team for bringing energy, care, and commitment to the kitchen and to FareShare for leading such an important community programme. #Reconciliation #Community #MealsForTheMob #FletcherBuilding #FBAustralia

We were proud to be recognised as one of 54 remaining founding members of the Business Leaders' Health and Safety Forum on Thursday 17 July at the forum's 15th anniversary celebration at Parliament in Wellington. Since 2010, we have been part of a leadership community committed to improving health and safety outcomes – not just within our organisation, but across New Zealand. Fletcher Building Managing Director and CEO Andrew Reding accepted the Certificate of Recognition on behalf of Fletcher Building from Hon Brooke van Velden, Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety, and Forum Chair Sheridan Broadbent. Fletcher Building Chief Safety and Sustainability Officer Wendi Bains comments: "Being recognised as a founding member of the Forum is a proud moment for Fletcher Building but this milestone is not just about the past 15 years — it’s about our ongoing commitment to do better, to lead with care, and to make sure every person who comes to work goes home safely. “Health and safety isn’t a box to tick or something you ‘solve’ once— it’s a value we live every day, and a constant, evolving commitment. “Across business units and generations of leadership, we’ve kept people at the heart of how we operate. We’ve made meaningful progress but the journey is not over. Every safety conversation we have and action we take is about keeping people safe and we will continue to push for better every day.” #SafetyLeadership #BetterTogether #Protect #Safety #FletcherBuilding

Our Concrete Division is taking bold steps toward a low-carbon future by turning hard-to-recycle plastics into fuel at Golden Bay's Whangārei-based site. Listen to Golden Bay General Manager Ben Marsh’s interview on Radio New Zealand, where he shares how they're reducing reliance on coal by using alternative fuels and tackling New Zealand’s plastic waste problem by using materials that would otherwise end up in landfill. This initiative is just part of their commitment to be coal-free by 2030 and supports the production of EcoSure, New Zealand’s lowest carbon GP cement. #GoldenBayCement #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #LowCarbon
With a goal to be coal free by 2030 we're proud to be helping divert hard-to-recycle plastics from landfill as an alternative fuel to manufacture EcoSure - NZ's lowest carbon GP cement. Check out our GM Ben Marsh talking on Radio NZ about our investment in alternative fuels and bringing on new waste streams to power our kiln. Whilst we don't advocate for more plastic production, we're tackling New Zealand's plastic disposal problem by offering a practical solution for hard-to-recycle plastics that works now and can complement longer term strategies. #LowCarbonCement #GoldenBay #AlternativeFuels #Interview #RadioNewZealand #DiversionFromLandfill

This week, we’re proud to stand alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities as we celebrate NAIDOC Week 2025. We’ve taken time to reflect, share stories from our First Nations colleagues, and learn more about the cultures that continue to shape this country. Aaron Richard-Zidov from our Australian business Oliveri celebrates NAIDOC week by practicing restfulness and sees it as a time of deep respect for his elders. This reflects this year’s theme - “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy,” which is a powerful reminder of the resilience and leadership of First Nations peoples—past, present and emerging.
