Don’t miss CRATER 👉🏻 https://lnkd.in/dZ3QiEM4 🧪 A member of the ICTER International Scientific Committee (ISC) for the term 2024–2028, Henri Leinonen, will join us as a speaker at CRATER 2025! He leads pioneering research that bridges drug discovery and neural plasticity in the retina. His group from University of Eastern Finland recently demonstrated that a combination of repurposed GPCR drugs can slow the progression of retinal degeneration (Nat Commun, 2024) - a promising step toward innovative treatment pipelines and clinical translation. In parallel, his team investigates retinal homeostatic plasticity, the remarkable ability of the retina to adapt to sensory defects. By uncovering the molecular mechanisms behind this process (eLife, 2020), Henri Leinonen’s research provides insights that could guide new CNS therapies for injury and malfunction. Using the retina as a model system for plasticity, pharmacology, and drug discovery, his work exemplifies how cutting-edge science can drive breakthroughs in vision and beyond. We’re excited to have his expertise and vision shaping ICTER’s scientific direction and CRATER is a wonderful opportunity to discover his work! #ScientificConference #ScienceConference #ResearchConference #EyeResearch #Ophthalmology #VisionScience #EyeHealth #TranslationalResearch #MedicalResearch #FutureOfMedicine #CRATER2025 #CRATER #ICTER #CandelaFoundation #i2EYE #TRIOVi #UCL #SorbonneUniversite #InstitutDeLaVision #HorizonEurope #1520Institute #Inserm #ICTER_CoE #IChF #PAN #PAS #PolishAcademyOfSciences #PolskaAkademiaNauk #EUFunds #FENG #FNP #FunduszeUE

Your way to CRATER 👉🏻 https://lnkd.in/dZ3QiEM4 🧬 Delighted to announce Prof. Majlinda Lako will be joining us on stage at CRATER 2025! Prof. Majlinda Lako is an internationally recognized expert in human pluripotent stem cell biology and retinal organoid development. After completing her PhD in Human Genetics in 1993 at Newcastle under the mentorship of Prof. Tom Strachan and Susan Lindsay, she went on to establish her own research group at Newcastle University’s Institute of Genetic Medicine in 2003. Her team pioneered the establishment of human pluripotent stem cells and the development of light-responsive retinal organoids for disease modelling, drug discovery, and therapeutic applications. Central to her work is studying the developmental biology and disease of the eye, with a focus on understanding how dysfunction in retinal cells or the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) disrupts vision - and finding strategies to repair the damage. She is currently Co-director of Regenerative Medicine, Stem Cells and Transplantation at Newcastle, a member of the Biosciences Institute, and part of the Neuroscience NUCoRE, contributing to translational advances in regenerative medicine. We’re so excited for her participation at CRATER! #ScientificConference #ScienceConference #ResearchConference #EyeResearch #Ophthalmology #VisionScience #EyeHealth #TranslationalResearch #MedicalResearch #FutureOfMedicine #CRATER2025 #CRATER #ICTER #CandelaFoundation #i2EYE #TRIOVi #UCL #SorbonneUniversite #InstitutDeLaVision #HorizonEurope #1520Institute #Inserm #ICTER_CoE #IChF #PAN #PAS #PolishAcademyOfSciences #PolskaAkademiaNauk #EUFunds #FENG #FNP #FunduszeUE

Register for CRATER 2025 👉🏻 https://crater.icter.pl 🧠 We’re pleased to welcome Matthew Chalk from Institut de la Vision as a speaker! He explores how neural circuits encode and transform sensory information, enabling us to perceive and interact with the world. His work focuses on developing theoretical models of neural activity in early visual areas - such as the retina and primary visual cortex (V1) - to uncover fundamental principles of sensory processing. By studying how visual features like local motion or contrast changes are represented in neural responses, Dr. Chalk investigates how coding goals influence the dynamics and connectivity of sensory circuits. His work bridges computational neuroscience and systems-level understanding of visual perception. #ScientificConference #ScienceConference #ResearchConference #EyeResearch #Ophthalmology #VisionScience #EyeHealth #TranslationalResearch #MedicalResearch #FutureOfMedicine #CRATER2025 #CRATER #ICTER #CandelaFoundation #i2EYE #TRIOVi #UCL #SorbonneUniversite #InstitutDeLaVision #HorizonEurope #1520Institute #Inserm #ICTER_CoE #IChF #PAN #PAS #PolishAcademyOfSciences #PolskaAkademiaNauk #EUFunds #FENG #FNP #FunduszeUE
