LuxOEnergy - Lux Optimeyes Energy lightweight and flexible solar panels produced in #Moura , #Portugal were selected by Galp and Porto de Lisboa to prove that solar electrification could be done anywhere. This innovative solar PV panels produced in a efficient semi-automated manufacturing plant in Moura, Alentejo under DAS Energy Ltd. License use the same crystalline cells as traditional panels but do not need glass or frames which enables a reduction of more than 4x in weight and allows a faster, simpler and cheaper logistics and installation costs. Overall the solar production performance is aligned with the traditional panels but are intended to be used mostly at rooftops or facades with any light structures, including tents or at the top of transportation vehicles, where traditional panels can’t be applied. Now we can have the Solar Energy Everywhere!
Electrification: How can we make it simpler, faster and more affordable to deploy? This is one of the key questions guiding our innovation work for the end-customer. Ultimately, our goal is to increase Galp’s installation efficiency, freeing up our installers for the next site sooner and enabling us to install more with the same level of investment. Two recent examples of how we’re turning this vision into reality: 1) EV Charging Infrastructure: With the expansion of the project to Coimbra, we set a new benchmark for installation speed and cost by connecting two EV charging stations directly to existing public lighting lampposts. This approach shattered our previous results, proving that we can expand EV infrastructure more efficiently. Thank you to our internal team and partners (Município de Coimbra E-REDES) who made this possible! Filipa Monteiro Martins, Pedro Teixeira, Duarte Martins, Inês Mendes, André Siopa, Carlos Silva, Luís Tiago Ferreira, Luis Santos Costa 2) Distributed Generation: at Porto de Lisboa , we installed lightweight, flexible solar panels from three different partners (Sunman Europe, SunOyster Systems GmbH, LuxOEnergy - Lux Optimeyes Energy). These panels reduce structural load and significantly cut installation time and cost. Plus, it unlocks solar in areas where conventional panels simply weren’t an option. Thank you also to all the teams involved. Alexandre Chaves, Frederico Baptista, André van der Kellen, Diogo Nicolau, Paula Cristina Sengo, Xavier Kerkhofs, Carsten Corino, Amelie Krahl, Miguel Matias These achievements demonstrate that innovation does not always require the invention of new technology; it can also involve reshaping how we deploy existing (and new) solutions. By focusing on simplicity, speed and affordability, Galp is unlocking new opportunities for electrification and empowering more customers to participate in the energy transition!
