You should start saying no to letting outdated control architectures hold you back. Our partners over at OnLogic have written this great piece on the topic of next-gen IT infrastructure in industrial settings, and we've had the pleasure of making contributions. In this article, we break down how #SoftPLCs are decoupling logic from legacy PLC boxes and how a unified edge management layer unlocks centralized application deployments with local autonomy. Flexibility, meets reliability, meets innovation. 🤝 💡 Dive in to explore how software-driven control is redefining operational agility and opening pathways for innovation across modern industrial environments: https://lnkd.in/dk66qjT2

Edge computing is finding its way into boardroom conversations. For CXOs, the question isn’t what edge computing is, but rather what role it should play in driving resilience, compliance, and, at the heart of it: competitive advantage. In our CXO’s Guide to Edge Computing, we unpack how to approach edge strategically, where it makes sense, and what it takes to scale beyond pilot projects. Some key takeaways include: ▶︎ Focus on latency, resilience, and compliance cases ▶︎ The importance of purpose-built tooling to scale effectively ▶︎ How the edge complements, not replaces, the cloud CXOs, explore the full guide here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/dcdPBTPT

Deploying to the edge isn’t just about getting applications out there. You want precision, automation, and scalability. Oh, and you want it, without having to swivel the chair from the tooling you're already leveraging in the cloud. When applications are distributed across thousands of locations, you can’t rely on manual rollouts or hope that “it just works.” Instead, you need strategies that balance automation, security, and infrastructure diversity. In this article, we explore key deployment strategies at the edge, from canary releases to rolling updates, and how they can be adapted to distributed environments with unique requirements like intermittent connectivity, high scale, and heterogeneity. 💡 Read the full article on mastering edge deployment strategies here: https://lnkd.in/did9SyCh

🛜 ❌ You should always be able to trust the survival of your edge applications, with or without connectivity. The ability for applications to run without relying on the operational status of the upstream infrastructure is one of the key tailwinds for edge computing. Many companies put business-critical applications at the edge. This pattern is common across many verticals, including retail (computers in stores), industrial manufacturing (factory floors), and marine environments (on board ships). But placing applications at the edge doesn’t in itself make them resilient throughout connectivity outages. In this article, we’ll break down the topic of offline capabilities and what is required from an edge container orchestrator to ensure survivability. And you want offline capabilities at the edge, because you know, there is always that guy... 💡 Access the full article here: https://lnkd.in/drRwcaPX

Agentic AI + Edge Computing = 🤝 Agentic AI marks an important shift in how we think about artificial intelligence. No longer confined to fixed instructions, agentic AI systems can act with autonomy and adapt to changing conditions. When paired with edge computing, this evolution unlocks new opportunities for real-time intelligence, enabling decisions to be made closer to where data is generated, reducing latency, and strengthening resilience in distributed environments. 💡 Read more about how #agenticAI at the #edge is impacting the future of distributed computing: https://lnkd.in/dZykmU2k

August is wrapping up, and with it comes a fresh batch of powerful enhancements to the Avassa Edge Platform! This month’s release strengthens support for diverse and dynamic edge environments, from specialized hardware, to mobile sites, to complex network topologies. Some highlights include: ▶︎ Enhanced NVIDIA Jetson support: Extended validation of Jetson devices, accompanied by dedicated documentation to simplify installation and configuration. ▶︎ Support for moving sites with dynamic location: Edge sites can now report their real-time position via an edge API, ideal for robots, trucks, or drones. The Control Tower map updates dynamically, and historical positions are stored for downstream use. 🚅 🚛 🛫 🚗 ▶︎ Improved edge proxy for ISA-95 networks: Extended proxy capabilities from single-layer setups to multi-layer and cross-site proxying, enabling more flexible deployments in segmented or highly restricted networks. These updates make it even easier to run Avassa in environments where flexibility, mobility, and security are paramount. Smart factories are the cornerstone of Industry 4.0, integrating advanced automation, IoT sensors, and AI-driven analytics into manufacturing operations. But how does #edgecomputing play a part? Industrial environments generate massive volumes of time-sensitive data that must be processed instantly to control machinery, maintain quality, and ensure worker safety. Cloud computing remains critical for central analytics and long-term storage, but relying solely on it creates latency, reliability, and compliance challenges. Edge computing in manufacturing addresses these limitations by processing data on the shop floor, enabling decentralized intelligence and rapid, autonomous action. This article examines the importance of edge computing in modern #manufacturing, its role in supporting distributed production models, and how solutions like the Avassa Edge Platform facilitate these deployments at scale. 💡 Access full article here: https://lnkd.in/dZE7H33H
