The Centre for Democracy and Peace is a charity based in Northern Ireland focused on supporting the peace process and sharing its lessons with the international community. Our vision is to remove fear from and offer hope to divided communities and to create a society with a shared sense of responsibility, opportunity, community and above all a shared sense of humanity, based upon respect for and tolerance of diversity. Our aim is to support the Irish peace process and at the same time share our experience with the international community.

A qualified barrister, she was called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 2008, having studied Law and Criminology at Cardiff University and completing a Master’s in Human Rights and Criminal Justice at Queen’s University Belfast. Introducing another voice from our Class of 2026 - a group of leaders shaping change across sectors and communities. Meet Gillian Hamilton, Partnership Manager at EastSide Partnership. Rooted in east Belfast, Gillian is passionate about trauma-informed practice and helping systems work better for those furthest from power.
