Developing a new generation of materials for the next era of sustainability.

About us

Developing a new generation of materials for the next era of sustainability. Our patented technology platform is making material circularity possible at an epic scale. Formerly known as ELeather, GenPhoenix is inspired by the cyclical regeneration of the phoenix, as we give new life to leather waste by transforming it into a sustainable, recycled material. Gen Phoenix will continue our mission to usher in a new generation of materials for the next era of sustainability. Our new name also underscores our commitment to introduce environmentally-friendly, circular materials with unprecedented performance and scale to new customers in consumer luxury goods, footwear and automotive. We are proud of the reputation we have built as the leader in sustainable recycled leather for aviation, railway and bus customers and therefore ELeather will remain our product brand, serving the mass-transportation market.

  • The latest Fashionista article highlights the technologies, policies, and partnerships turning circular fashion from ambition into action—including our work at GenPhoenix with Coach. We’re not waiting for the industry to catch up. We’re collaborating with global brands, manufacturers, and innovators to accelerate meaningful change now. As our CMO and GM, Consumer, Elyse Winer, put it: “Gen Phoenix had to enter the market winning on the elements of price and performance in order to have the sort of environmental impact that it has had.” It’s not just about sustainable materials. It’s about scalable solutions that compete on every front. Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gtEnRGV9 #RiseWithGenPhoenix

How can we unlock circularity at scale? As many brands are walking back their sustainability commitments, I’m proud to say we’re pushing forward with more dedication than ever, in particular scaling what we’ve learned in Coachtopia across the broader Coach ecosystem—from circular design strategies and supply chain innovation to new materials, trade-in, and one-click resale. What we began as disruption at the margins of our brand, where we could manage greater risk, we are now building into the core to drive impact at scale. First, there’s the Alter/Ego collection, a range of Coachtopia bags designed specifically to repurpose the leather scraps left over from the making of our best-selling Tabby and Brooklyn bags. With this collection, we’re implementing circular design strategies that originated in Coachtopia into the production of our most iconic Coach styles. We’re also expanding our partnership with GenPhoenix—which began with Coachtopia’s proprietary Coachtopia Leather—to introduce a co-developed next generation material made with recycled leather fibers. Then there’s the continuing expansion of Coach (Re)Loved, our program for customer trade-in alongside restoring, Upcrafting, and remaking pre-loved, damaged, and unrepairable Coach bags. Since we launched in 2021, we’ve given almost 60,000 products a second life as well as scaled the program globally, from NA to Europe and across Asia including China, Japan, and SE Asia, making it the only truly global program of its kind. Next up, Coachtopia (Re)Loved. Finally, as part of our mission to enable multiple lives for our products, we’re enabling frictionless reselling in partnership with Digital ID technology leader EON and fashion resale marketplace Poshmark. We launched this service in Coachtopia last year, enabling consumers to use the digital passport on their Coachtopia products to list their products on Poshmark with a single click. Now, in the latest phase of our partnership with EON, we’re implementing this idea across the wider Coach ecosystem, with one-click reselling possible for every Coach product (now easily accessed via one's order history on site), starting in the U.S. We’re still so early on our journey in changing how we make and consume for a more circular future. But we know this future requires unlocking scale, embedding circular innovation into how we design, make, and grow across the core of our brand. We hope that by demonstrating this in Coach, we can also spark change across the wider industry. I’m so grateful to all our teams and partners for their bold innovation and collaboration on our collective road to circularity. #coachny #coachtopia #circularity

'Red, Yellow, Blueprint' is completed! The location of Schiphol, in the Haarlemmermeer polder, has a rich history. Once the largest lake in the Netherlands, it was finally drained in 1852 after two centuries of planning. This was the starting point of several impressive hydraulic engineering achievements that put the Netherlands on the map as a nation of hydraulic engineers. It is therefore only fitting that another point of national pride, Schiphol, lies in the middle of this polder landscape. The polder landscape of Holland was an inspiration for many artists in the Dutch art movement ‘De Stijl’. Their characteristic orthogonal works are essentially abstractions of the Dutch (polder) landscape, the same landscape that surrounds Schiphol and provides this view for its visitors. For the design of a new seating area in lounge 2, we were inspired by a Dutch icon: Mondriaan. Mondriaan originally started as a classical landscape painter but progressively abstracted his style. We analyzed his final works, the Boogie-Woogie paintings, and used them as an organizing principle for designing a space: orthogonal sequences of lines and planes in primary colors that together form a kind of room. The seating area is also set up in this way: connected chairs form seating areas of various sizes that are linked together and fit precisely with the existing architecture. This creates an unexpected composition and a great diversity of seating options, making it suitable for both small and large groups of travelers. To create visual tranquility in busy Schiphol, we replaced the three primary colors with solid wood from three European types of trees, trees that Mondriaan himself once painted. On the floor, the linear pattern of wooden planes continues to reinforce the idea of rooms. A neutral sustainable terrazzo floor fills the space between the wooden sections, just as the white paint did on Mondriaan’s canvas. The result is a world within a world. With the rhythm and spaciousness of the works of Mondriaan.
