  • LivaNova welcomed 31 U.S. interns this summer, providing hands-on experience, skill development, and industry exposure. The interns will wrap up their experience with presentations to company leaders, where they share their experience, achievements, challenges, and learnings (both personal and technical). The program included: • Work experience on meaningful projects and tasks aligned with their interests that contribute to our Business Imperatives. • Program kickoff with CEO Vlad Makatsaria and Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer Phil Kowalczyk. • Presentations from LivaNova employees about their career path, current role, and overview of their Business Unit or function. • A Career Day focused on skills like interviewing and presenting, capped by a session with Chief Human Resources Officer Natalia Kozmina, highlighting early career strengths and opportunities. • Social events to promote networking and camaraderie. At LivaNova, we proudly support the workforce of the future and trust that these bright students acquired personal and professional skills to help them on their way to a rewarding career. #NationalInternDay #WorkThatMatters

  • At LivaNova, we believe that meaningful impact starts with small actions. During a recent Town Hall in Japan, team members came together to promote sustainability through two inspiring initiatives. First, a community-driven item exchange encouraged colleagues to bring unused household items and give them a second life. Then, teams collaborated to develop simple, actionable sustainability ideas—ranging from waste reduction to energy saving—that anyone could start implementing right away. These employee-led efforts reflect our shared commitment to creating a more sustainable future one step at a time. #WeAreLivaNova #WorkThatMatters

We love this reflection on our first Global Innovation Summit. Lisa is one of our Innovation Connectors, who support teams in improving alignment, removing barriers, and changing the way individuals and teams communicate. Cultural change IS possible, and Lisa Sampson's reflections show us how.

The vision was to bring together people across the org to align on and renew alignment on our innovation strategy and vision. In many ways, the Innovation Community at LivaNova includes every function: Regulatory, Clinical, GSM, R&D, Finance, HR, and many others. And we wanted to include not just senior levels, but the people executing our strategy as well as those setting it. The idea was to define 'innovation', clearly (as stated by our CINO Ahmet Tezel, PhD, it's the "creation of differentiated value", for those taking notes). Ensure everyone sees their role in it. Bring functions together- clarify the 'what' and 'why' and give plenty of room for them to define their 'how'. And find a way to make as many puns as possible on the word "Hungary", since we met in Budapest. What exceeded my expectations was for our suggested meeting guidelines (intended to ensure the Culture of Innovation was in the room with us) to be taken so seriously, so immediately and so completely. You can set the stage (literally) for connection and insight, but it takes the right attitude of people in the room to make it real. And this group had it. They made a choice to open their minds to new perspectives, to assume positive intent, to consider that a culture of innovation requires a risk- choosing to be the first person to seek understanding before being understood. And they chose to learn- about functions they don't interact with and don't "need" anything from on a daily basis. To learn about strategy driving a seperate business unit. To sit next to someone they didn't know (introverts: unite). To listen to presenters with a less senior title than is typical. And equally critical was participation from leadership - our Board Chair, our CEO, most of our ELT, GSM, R&D, and Regulatory leaders (to name a few). All of whom understand the impact of prioritizing innovation by showing up. But biggest accolade to Ahmet Tezel, PhD who knows how to set a vision, believes in people, and trusts by default. And to the planning team with an incredibly high work ethic and standard for excellence, thank you for your part in our first Global Innovation Summit. The Innovation Community was truly... Hungary for this opportunity*. *(Not sorry) Jaimie Hartridge Nickerson Hill Shuja Haider Federica Zirotti Jason Peters, PMP Charles Gordon Stephanie Bolton Philip Kowalczyk Alex Shvartsburg Franco Poletti Michael Hutchinson Natalia Kozmina Vladimir Makatsaria Phil Whetter Marijke Vleminckx

      +3
  • LivaNova's sustainability efforts focus on three areas: People, Products, and Planet. Two recent packaging optimization projects aim to deliver returns on all three fronts. A redesigned box for the SenTiva family of products that has been approved in the U.S. will result in: • Improved customer experience, as the devices take 67% less space to store. • Reduced freight costs, due to the reduced packaging size. • A 48% reduction in paper weight. • Packaging that is made of 99% recycled material. A pilot project to change how the Essenz™ Perfusion System is delivered offers: • Reduction in packaging disposal for customers, as all packaging can be returned to LivaNova for reuse or recycling. • Reduced costs by reusing pallets and boxes. • 90% fewer emissions by switching from air to ocean freight. We look forward to rolling these improvements out to more regions.

For the third consecutive year, the Mirandola plant had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation of 20 outstanding master’s students from the University of Palermo, visiting the Mirandola Biomedical Valley for a unique educational experience. Accompanied by Professor Vincenzo La Carrubba, lecturer in the Biomedical Engineering program, and Ph.D. student Salvatore Tornabene, the students had the opportunity to explore the production facility and the research and development laboratories, immersing themselves in the heart of technological innovation. Throughout the day, they enthusiastically took part in a lecture on the functioning of the cardiopulmonary bypass and attended a talk on numerical modeling applied to the design of oxygenators—sessions that sparked great interest and curiosity. Thank you to the LivaNova team—Stefano Spro, Gianluca Poletti, Franko Masllavica, Claudio Resta, Daniela Guerrera, and Chiara Gasperi—who conveyed the value of their work with professionalism and warmth.
