Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Human Capital Management Forum yesterday at London International Shipping Week 2025. With a packed room and critical conversations throughout, the event underlined the importance of the maritime industry attracting, training, supporting, and retaining the workforce it needs for the energy transition. The event also saw the launch of the Maritime Just Transition Task Force training frameworks for seafarers on ammonia, methanol, and hydrogen-fuelled vessels – a pivotal step towards accelerating the safe uptake of zero- and near-zero fuels. We were honoured to welcome Takeshi Hashimoto, President and CEO of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd., who delivered an inspiring keynote on MOL’s strategy for training the seafarers of the future. It was also powerful to hear directly from a seafarer’s perspective, reminding us why the workforce must remain at the centre of every conversation about change. James Forsdyke and Anastasia Kouvertari of the Lloyd's Register Maritime Decarbonisation Hub moderated insightful panel discussions on the new training frameworks and the industry’s readiness for alternative fuels. As London International Shipping Week 2025 draws to a close, today’s focus is on how technology is reshaping shipping. Our Digital Transformation in Maritime event, hosted in collaboration with Smart Maritime Network and Safetytech Accelerator, will dive into AI, maritime autonomy and real-world use cases, while spotlighting the UK’s role in driving digital innovation through presentations and panel discussions. Lloyd's Register Foundation and Royal Museums Greenwich are also hosting a panel discussion focused on culture and careers in maritime, and the role heritage can play in supporting a more diverse and sustainable talent pipeline for the industry. Day three of London International Shipping Week 2025 puts the spotlight on people, progress and performance. We're hosting our Maritime Human Capital Management Forum today, bringing together global leaders, innovators, regulators, and frontline practitioners to explore how the industry can better attract, train, support, and retain the workforce it needs today and tomorrow. The event will begin by focusing on the global push to ensure seafarers are prepared for the transition to net zero. The second session, hosted by Ocean Technologies Group in collaboration with Lloyd's Register OneOcean, will explore the strategic and technological levers of Human Capital Management. We’re also hosting the LR Container Ship Forum, where discussions will consider the commercial and regulatory drivers shaping the sector’s sustainable transition.
