CONGRATULATIONS TEAM YCHAROS!! Will be great to see you recieve the International 3Rs Prize!
Hear from our 3Rs Prize winners about their systematic and scalable approach to test the performance of over 600 antibodies, including those used in Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and motor neurone disease research. 12% of the antibodies they tested were withdrawn from market due to poor performance and suppliers have updated recommendations for use for a further 25%. Their results showed that recombinant reagents performed better than traditional monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, building confidence in non-animal derived alternatives to replace animal-derived antibodies. 🏆 The International 3Rs Prize, awarded by NC3Rs and sponsored by GSK, highlights outstanding and original work to replace, reduce or refine the use of animals in research.

Better Antibodies, Better Science, Better Patient Outcomes!
Only Good Antibodies Community Founder l MRC New Investigator (Better Methods, Better Research) l NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer l UK Reproducibility Network Supervisory Board Member
I really enjoyed this interview with Loo Loo Rose at the University of Leicester about my work, history, and why I care about #reproducibility #research integrity and the Only Good Antibodies community! None of this would have been possible, in particular, without Carl Laflamme supporting us for such a long time now! There are so many others who have supported us along the way - but Carl Laflamme was very quick to realise the advantage of a team with a behavioural science, molecular bio, and clinical co-leads (Dr Eva M. Krockow , Michael Biddle and me) and how it would integrate and grow with the leadership of the YCharOS Inc. initiative. Great work so far, but we have so much further to go...

Such an influential team. The work they have led has led to new YCharOS Inc. initiatives here in UK University of Leicester and in US Jelena Lujic in Cornell.

Improving biomedical research using an industry-academic open research collaborative (Dr Michael Biddle, OGA and YCharOS UK) Biomedical research has a high rate of replication failure, making the drug and diagnostic development pipelines slow, expensive and risky. In preclinical research, antibodies are an important reagent used to identify proteins, validate drug targets and investigate disease mechanisms. However, they are also a common driver of replication failure, with some antibodies exhibiting poor selectivity for their intended target. To overcome this barrier, we have established an open research collaboration with industry.
