Finance Intern @ The Fidelis Partnership | Final Year Accounting & Finance Student | SEO London Candidate |

Over the past 8 weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of interning with the Finance team at The Fidelis Partnership . This experience has given me a valuable insight into the fast-paced world of finance, specifically within the insurance and reinsurance industry as well as broad exposure across several key areas of finance. Rotation Highlights: • Group Reporting: Gained practical experience in consolidating financial statements and understanding the importance of accurate reporting. • Technical Accounting: Developed knowledge in insurance specific areas such as premium receivables, commissionable income, and other core insurance accounting principles. • FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis): Contributed to budgeting and forecasting processes, and saw how financial budgets transform to support strategic decision making. • Non-Technical Finance: Learned to record journals for various general expenses across operational, IT, and non-IT cost centers, building a foundation in day-to-day financial operations. I’m truly grateful to The Fidelis Partnership and The Brokerage for this experience and Yewandè Yusuf for her mentorship, guidance, and for fostering an environment where continuous learning and meaningful contribution are encouraged. Looking forward to taking this new experience into the next chapter of my finance journey! #FinanceInternship #FPandA #Accounting #GroupReporting #FinanceCareers #LearningAndDevelopment #TheFidelisPartnership #accounting #internship

Last night marked a special milestone – 10 years of the Royal Academy of Engineering Graduate Engineering Engagement Programme (GEEP). The celebration brought together inspiring young engineers and committed employer partners who not only support the programme, but also have the courage to examine their own practices to build a more inclusive future for the engineering profession. As part of the consortium of delivery partners, we at The Brokerage are proud to play a role in this important work. Having previously worked in STEM outreach, I feel especially honoured to now help bring this programme to life – learning each year, improving, and striving to deliver greater impact for young people and employers alike. A huge thank you to the young engineers who shared their stories and wisdom last night – your energy, enthusiasm and ambition are proof that you are indeed the future leaders who will make a difference. Congratulations to the Royal Academy of Engineering on this 10-year milestone – here’s to the next decade of impact. 🚀 #10yearsofgeep #Inclusion #EngDiversity #Partnerships

📋 Skills-building event at a management consulting firm 📋 Last Friday, I had the opportunity to attend a skills-building event hosted by Baringa in partnership with The Brokerage. During the day, I participated in numerous engaging activities designed to develop the skills necessary for success in applications and the workplace. Since every session was split into a theory and an application section, I was able to apply all the knowledge given with immediate feedback. The first session focused on understanding how to succeed in a group exercise (a common component in many assessment centres during the hiring process). We were then tasked with observing a mock group exercise take place, analysing how each candidate approached the task and contributed to the team's performance. The next three sessions consisted of workshops on CV writing, interview skills, and personal branding. Each session provided tailored 1-to-1 or 1-to-2 support, which made all of these activities highly practical and productive. The final sessions provided me with the unique experience of being able to enter and use Baringa's professional media room. As an extension to the personal branding session, I was recorded rehearsing a personal introduction (similar to an 'elevator pitch'). This promoted confidence in my communication skills and helped me refine my delivery - highly valuable in future interviews and networking. After all the sessions were completed, a networking lunch was held, where I had the opportunity to meet multiple professionals to discuss their roles and the consulting industry. This experience was highly valuable, not only to improve my personal skills but also to learn more about the opportunities offered within the company and industry. I would like to thank everyone involved with organising and putting this event together at Baringa and The Brokerage. #Consulting #Baringa #SkillsBuilding #Networking

What is your best memory from the Graduate Engineering Engagement Programme (GEEP)? Today, we are asking GEEP alumni to revisit their best moments from the last decade, as we celebrate 10 years of the programme with an exclusive event at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). With GEEP alumni, industry partners and stakeholders joining us for the occasion, we are delighted to be able to mark this special milestone with the people who made it possible. GEEP is an award-winning programme designed to make the engineering profession more diverse and inclusive. Over the last 10 years, more than 1800 students from over 70 universities have taken part in the programme. Of the students involved in GEEP, 30% are women and over 90% are from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds. Are you GEEP alumni or a GEEP industry partner? • Another fabulous internship completed with our valued partners The Hartford Huge thanks to Lauren Kiernan for the tremendous internal coordination of the programme. Huge well done to all the interns. 👏 Keep sharing your experiences and tag The Brokerage

I recently completed an 8-week summer internship experience at The Hartford as a Risk and Compliance Intern, and it has been an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry while developing both technical and professional skills. Over the past two months, I've had the chance to work on a variety of impactful projects, including: • Researching emerging insurance risks and collaborating with multiple business lines to prepare insights for executive leadership • Supporting Gifts and Entertainment monitoring by analysing expense data in Excel and creating a survey to assess employees' policy awareness • Developing summary slides for key policies, translating complex regulatory topics into concise and accessible resources for employees • Completing a group project focused on enhancing the onboarding process for new employees and future interns I also really valued the regular Lunch and Learns which have improved my understanding of the roles across insurance, as well as the opportunity to connect with various individuals across the organisation. A huge thank you to my mentor Harry Horsfall for your guidance and involving me in impactful work, to the Risk and Compliance team for their continuous support, and to Lauren Kiernan for organising an incredible internship programme. I'm also grateful to my fellow interns Aniqa Rahman, Fatoumata Y., Imaan A., Ivan Islam, and Emmanuella Sosimi for making this experience even more enjoyable. Finally, thank you to The Brokerage for providing such valuable opportunities!
