🌐 The vast majority (96%) of the world’s population lives within the footprint of a mobile broadband network. But the challenge is far from over. In 2024, the number of people not covered by mobile broadband fell by 40 million, with 75% of the reduction coming from Sub-Saharan Africa. Yet 300 million people (4% of the global population) still live without coverage, often in sparsely populated, rural and low-income areas. The investment required to close the remaining coverage gap is a significant hurdle to universal coverage. Reaching these communities will require: 📡 Innovative technologies 💰 Alternative financing models 📜 Policy reforms to stimulate investment The Network Coverage and Infrastructure report, from The State of Mobile Internet Connectivity 2025 series outlines this challenge.
