IMO –
the International Maritime Organization – is the United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine and atmospheric pollution by ships. IMO's work supports the UN sustainable development goals.
Comoros is strengthening the security of its port operations by equipping personnel with the knowledge and skills required to meet international maritime standards, in line with the ISPS Code.
A needs assessment mission carried out in Mauritania is assessing the current situation in the Member State and will lay the groundwork to set up a maritime single window system in the Port of Nouakchott (Nouakchott Friendship Port).
The United Republic of Tanzania is strengthening the security of critical infrastructure supporting its port and shipping operations. Maritime agencies convened in Zanzibar for a National ISPS Code Self-Assessment and Audit Workshop.
