Interested in learning more about our team? Keep reading for the August Employee Spotlight! ⭐ Meet Liz Ford Title: Social media + Marketing coordinator How long have you been with 3CDC? 1.5 years What brought you here? I was living and working in Kentucky and stumbled upon this role via LinkedIn. At the time, I was working with a woman who had previously worked at 3CDC and she had nothing but amazing things to say about it and she spoke SO highly of the ambassadors. I hadn't spent much time downtown, so hearing that there were so many thoughtful accommodations for the community members and visitors, I was immediately impressed. After doing some research on the website, I noticed how much fun the civic spaces provided and that's what I was after - community and a little fun in my job. What keeps you here? I love my team. Everyone here has always been warm and welcoming, and they make coming to work fun. And, I genuinely love what we do. I love that all of our events are free, inclusive, and thoughtful. I also really enjoy photography, so the fact that I get to use my camera everyday makes me really happy. The only thing I knew I wanted to be after high school was to be a photographer so getting to live out that dream daily keeps me inspired. Hobbies: Photography, quilting + embroidering, and sewing. I also enjoy doing yard work and painting. First job? I was the 'Summer Page' at my local library. I helped to plan events for summer camp! What is your inspiration? All the people we get to meet! From business owners, to local residents, and more. I also love watching people enjoy themselves at our events. Three words to describe yourself: Creative, organized, light-hearted Favorite shops in OTR: Corporation for Findlay Market, the porch at Washington Park, or a date night at Losanti Fun Fact: Liz has loved photography since she was a little girl. She originally came to 3CDC to focus on social media and marketing, but quickly took on the task of capturing memories during events and has made such a difference for our digital content. If you ever see her out with her camera (or doing a cartwheel) be sure to say hi and give her a smile!

A $1 million philanthropic pledge is the latest tailwind for the new Findlay Community Center project, a development stimulating revitalization efforts in the North Over-the-Rhine (OTR) neighborhood. The generous gift helps ensure that the critical community asset will be completed on time, delivering needed resources to the neighborhood beginning in fall 2026. The Findlay Community Center project, which broke ground in May, is a $46 million investment in North OTR that will transform Findlay Playground, a formerly underutilized park, into a 60,000 square foot (SF) state-of-the-art recreation facility and 8,400 SF childcare center. Its construction is a catalytic step in a $100M effort to uplift the OTR neighborhood north of Liberty Street. A careful selection process is underway to name third-party operators for both the community center and childcare center. These specialized organizations will share in the commitment of the City of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) and Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC) to ensure that the new facility, along with its amenities and programs, is accessible to the entire community regardless of socioeconomic status. The future membership plan will be modeled after Ziegler Park's Everybody In program, offering affordable membership and admission via a sliding scale based on income level, as well as diverse programming. “We’re incredibly grateful to all of the philanthropic leaders who have stepped up to support the Findlay Community Center project,” Steve Leeper, President and CEO of 3CDC, said. “Their generosity is helping us create a space that will serve the community for generations.” To read the full press release, click the link: https://lnkd.in/gYErk7TW

We’re proud to celebrate our Property Maintenance Technician, Rolandis Williams, whose determination, hard work, and commitment to change have transformed his life. Through the support of Central Clinic Behavioral Health Center's job-readiness program, Rolandis turned challenges into opportunities—becoming a devoted father, a valued team member, and an inspiration to others. "I realized that the trouble, the drugs, that kind of stuff, it wasn't really me, it wasn't really my character," said Williams. At 3CDC, we believe in fair-chance hiring and are committed to providing second and third-chance opportunities for individuals who have been incarcerated, are in recovery, or have faced barriers to stable employment. We partner with several job readiness programs to help build pathways toward success. 📲 Read more about Rolandis’s journey by reading the full article by @local12wkrc in our bio and know that we are always accepting applications from those ready to take their next step, simply visit the careers section on our website!

The reimagined convention center continues to take shape—both inside and out! With construction officially one year underway, crews have wrapped the up installation of a new curtain wall along both Fifth and Elm streets, and the CINCINNATI sign is starting to make its mark! Read on for this month’s convention center update! The upgraded sign will feature individual LED-illuminated letters, providing operators with complete creative control over the content shown. Unlike traditional signage, this dynamic system allows full customization of each letter—including color changes, gradients, and rich hues—enabling the display of visually striking and brand-specific designs. On game days, for instance, operators can incorporate signature visuals such as Cincinnati Bengals stripes, or Cincinnati Reds colors or FC Cincinnati logos directly within the letters themselves. The current sign utilizes weatherproof color-changing LED fixtures – manufactured in Canada – to illuminate the panels spelling Cincinnati. When fixtures malfunction, physical access is required for troubleshooting and repair, and a single failed fixture may prevent other good fixtures from lighting up. The process for accessing fixtures for repair requires a street lane closure and 120-foot Articulating lift. If a fixture needs to be replaced and one is not on hand, it generally requires 6-12 weeks to obtain a new one. This created an expensive, burdensome, and time-consuming process to repair fixtures when necessary. The upgraded sign will eliminate these challenges, while also enhancing the user experience of the sign through its customization options. We’ve heard the good-natured remarks about the building’s “yellow phase” (that’s just the waterproofing layer you’ve been seeing), but rest assured—the final glass exterior is coming together. While this marks our final exterior-focused update for a couple months, attention will now turn to the building’s interior and the future Elm Street Plaza. Want to stay in the loop? Subscribe to biweekly updates at the link https://lnkd.in/grKh28QA and follow along as the Convention District takes shape! 🏗️✨
