🌿 AgriExcel at Bioeconomy Campus Day – Smart farming and digital solutions on display The #AgriExcel project participated in Bioeconomy Campus Day in Saarijärvi in Central Finland, which offered an opportunity to explore the facilities of the campus, meet their collaboration partners, and connect with other professionals in the field. The diverse event attracted a large number of visitors, including families, students, experts and stakeholders. Visitors had the chance to explore smart farming solutions, simulators, and more traditional agriculture through machinery and animals. Topics important to the project were also covered in inspiring talks, which introduced themes such as the data economy, the role of farmers in its development, and the future of agriculture in the area in general. From AgriExcel’s perspective, the event also provided a great opportunity to gather insights into the digitalization of the food system in Central Finland - especially from experts and other stakeholders present. Monipuolinen tapahtuma houkutteli paikalle runsaasti väkeä, jossa myös alan asiantuntijat ja sidosryhmät olivat edustettuina perheiden ja opiskelijoiden lisäksi. Kävijät pääsivät tutustumaan esimerkiksi älymaatalouden ratkaisuihin, simulaattoreihin sekä perinteisempään maatalouteen koneiden ja eläinten avulla. Hankkeelle tärkeitä aihealueita käsiteltiin myös idearikkaiden puheenvuorojen aikana, joissa esiteltiin muun muassa datataloutta, viljelijöiden roolia sen kehittämisessä ja alueen maatalouden tulevaisuutta yleisesti. AgriExcelin näkökulmasta tapahtuma tarjosi myös tilaisuuden kerätä näkemyksiä Keski-Suomen ruokajärjestelmän digitalisaatiosta - erityisesti asiantuntijoilta ja muilta mukana olleilta sidosryhmiltä. Just 100 kilometers from Skopje, this region is not only rich in natural beauty but also steeped in agricultural tradition and innovation. 🌱A Land Cultivated by Heritage Spanning 382 km², Kocani’s terrain is a harmonious blend of highlands (80%) and fertile lowlands (20%), where the town of Kocani thrives along the banks of the Bregalnica River. With a population of over 31,000, the municipality pulses with a deep-rooted connection to the land. Agriculture here isn’t just an economic activity—it’s a way of life. Thanks to an extensive irrigation network and favorable agrotechnical conditions, Kocani has become North Macedonia’s rice capital. Meet the teams that are the driving forces behind this initiative: ⭐ Comune di Treviso The City of Treviso, the capital of the province of the same name in the Veneto region, is an administrative, economic, and cultural hub for a territory strongly oriented toward quality of life, environmental sustainability, and productive innovation. As the lead entity of the Intesa Programmatica d’Area (IPA) Marca Trevigiana, the City coordinates a network of 20 municipalities and 11 local stakeholders, officially recognized by the Veneto Region as a Functional Area for integrated local development planning. The IPA Marca Trevigiana area is characterized by a balanced coexistence of dynamic urban centers and a still vibrant rural fabric, with a deeply rooted agri-food supply chain and high-quality products recognized at the European level (Protected Designation of Origin status). In recent years, the area has experienced a transformation in the agricultural sector: the decline of family-run farms has been accompanied by the emergence of more structured and innovative enterprises, capable of maintaining high standards of quality and productivity while facing challenges such as climate change, land consumption, and digital transition. Within this context, the City of Treviso plays a central role in local governance through tools such as the Programmatic Document of the Area and the Local Development Agenda 2021–2027, which guide the planning of targeted actions for the enhancement of rural areas, regeneration of production zones, and promotion of digitalization and sustainability. As part of the #AgriExcel project, the City will actively participate by collecting and sharing best practices, engaging local stakeholders, and fostering knowledge networks to support innovation and digitalization in the agri-food sector. The outcomes of the project will be used to update the programmatic document, identifying new initiatives aimed at strengthening environmental sustainability, enhancing the agri-food value chain, and increasing the eno-gastronomic tourism appeal of the area. Agència d'Emprenedoria, Innovació i Coneixement Creacció is the agency for entrepreneurship, innovation and knowledge for the socioeconomic development of Osona, a county located in central Catalonia. The agency was created with the aim of bringing together the efforts of key local actors — including economic and social stakeholders such as the public sector, businesses, trade unions and academia — in order to optimize resources and increase the effectiveness of territorial projects. Creacció works to: 🚀 Boost business competitiveness, 🤝 Improve people’s employability and qualifications, 👍 Foster local talent, 👓 Strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem, 🖐 Coordinate stakeholder participation to address local challenges, and 🧩 Generate useful knowledge to support strategic decision-making — all from an integrated perspective of economic, social and environmental development. As part of a broader European project, Creacció is leading the Osona Biocircular initiative — a territorial strategy aimed at improving the competitiveness and sustainability of the agri-food sector in Osona. Its primary task is to plan and coordinate the balanced long-term development of the territory. This is achieved through the coordination of various municipal and state administrative activities, as well as the development and implementation of development projects within the Vidzeme Planning Region. The Vidzeme Planning Region represents the interests of all its residents. In regional development planning and daily operations, the institution applies an integrated approach, encompassing economic, social, and environmental aspects. A strategic focus is also placed on transforming agriculture and the food sector. The region promotes sustainable farming, short food supply chains, and the development of high value-added products. Through the #AgriExcel project, Vidzeme supports the technological transformation of the agrifood industry by introducing smart solutions such as robotics, IoT, AI, and sensors.
