About us
Established in 1985, Alameda County Community Food Bank is a fast-growing, dynamic organization at the forefront of hunger‐relief efforts in the Bay Area. As one of the most efficient, direct-impact organizations in the country, few nonprofits are as well-respected – or make such an impact on the community – than us. The Food Bank ranks among the top 2% of nonprofits nationwide by Charity Navigator and was recently voted “Best Charity in the East Bay” by East Bay Express. The Food Bank serves 116,000 people each month – primarily children and seniors – and distributes enough food for 28 million meals through our innovative programming and our extensive network of 267 food pantries, soup kitchens and other community partner organizations. We’re forward thinkers who encourage innovation in our work. We change lives and we’re having fun doing it! For more information, please visit accfb.org.

Alameda County Community Food Bank reposted this
Our Anthem Blue Cross Medicare Bay Area team had the opportunity to volunteer at the Alameda County Community Food Bank and it was an incredibly rewarding experience. It felt great to roll up our sleeves, work together, and give back to the community in a meaningful way. Being part of something that directly supports those in need reminded us how small acts of service can make a big difference. We’re grateful for the experience and proud to be part of an organization that values compassion and community impact. Thank you Eric Chen and Carol Jones for joining me at this meaningful event. Alameda County Community Food Bank reposted this
This week, Terviva was once again proud to partner with Alameda County Community Food Bank to have our team members volunteer packing fresh produce at the non-profit organization's Oakland warehouse. For the past 40 years, ACCFB has been doing tremendous work and growing their impact, now distributing enough food for one million meals each week!

Have you heard of the “Four Aunties”? 🍉 🌱 🌶️ 🌱 This summer we learned about a compatible growing practice from our partner Dig Deep Farms, where the “Four Aunties” are currently growing together in the same fields: okra, black-eyed peas, watermelon, and peppers. These four companion plants grow faster and stronger together than they do apart. The sturdy okra provides windbreak and a trellis for the black-eyed peas, the black-eyed peas create nutrient-rich soil, the watermelon grows outward maintaining moist soil and suppressing weeds, and the peppers grow upward so none of the plants are competing for sunlight. We envision an Alameda County just like a field of the “Four Aunties”—where we all have different strengths but when we come together we are so much more than the sum of our parts. Pictured: Black-eyed pea and watermelon seedlings at Dig Deep Farms in June.

Get to know our team! In celebration of ACCFB's 40th Anniversary, Ingrid Becker interviewed and photographed Food Bankers, some who have been around for a few years, and others for a few decades, to showcase staff voices from the Food Bank's early through recent history. We'll be sharing these stories, starting with Mindy Tran, Director of Finance, who has been with ACCFB since 1997.
