The California Conservation Corps Talent Acquisition Team attended the Twin Rivers Unified School District 2025 Career Fair this past Thursday. Both our Corpsmember and staff recruiters, Gillian Auzins and Justine Kardad, were on site providing guidance and resources to more than 1,000 students. The CCC team helped graduating seniors explore Corpsmember pathways for young adults ages 18-25 as well as civil service employment opportunities. Recruiters also connected with teachers, counselors, and other folks who were looking for ways to support students. Many were interested in CCC’s wide range of activities including forestry, firefighting, culinary, and other natural resources work. It was also wonderful to connect with our fellow recruiters from the California Natural Resources Agency, including those working at the Department of Fish and Wildlife, State Parks, and CAL FIRE. On January 9, 2024, the Fortuna Center hosted its California Conservation Corps Career Summit at the River Lodge Conference Center. The event welcomed 60-70 corpsmembers eager to explore career paths and connect with partners to network and engage. The Talent Acquisition Team Ava Loe, Talent Acquisition Manager, and Justine Kardad, Recruitment Consultant shared valuable insights on state service careers, qualifications, and the hiring process including how corpsmembers experience qualifies them to start their state career. The Career Summit encouraged open dialogue, with recruiters from all over along with our fellow Resources partners, sharing tips on what they look for in candidates, helping corpsmembers build confidence and plan their next career steps. So much knowledge and tools were passed to the Corpsmembers while building relationships, and it was overall a success. Events like the Fortuna Center Career Summit show the impact that Talent Acquisition brings along with connecting potential candidates towards career-building opportunities.
