Proud to announce a major milestone for DeKalb County. Alongside our Board of Commissioners, I shared that we’ve approved an $8 million investment to secure 60 transitional housing units at Park 500. This is the first time DeKalb County has taken direct ownership in a housing development designed to support unhoused and housing-insecure families. These fully furnished, move-in ready units will prioritize families currently living in extended stay motels many with school-aged children. This isn’t just about housing; it’s about dignity, opportunity, and stability. It’s about turning bold ideas into real impact. This morning, I had the honor of delivering DeKalb County’s first-ever Employee State of the County and I’ll never forget it. When we called out each department and heard the cheers, the pride in the room brought me to tears. I felt overwhelmed with gratitude. There was so much love and energy in that space and I felt truly blessed to be there with you. I shared my vision for Reimagining DeKalb, the progress we’ve made, and the new programs we’re introducing like First-Time Homebuyer Assistance, Elder Care Leave, and Educational Reimbursement because you deserve to be supported in more ways than one. But what meant the most to me was the chance to speak directly to you. To remind you that you matter, that you are seen, and that you are not alone in this work. That’s why today, I’m beginning a Countywide tour to visit every department because I want to show up for you the way you show up for DeKalb. “You are more than your job title. You’re part of a movement, a family, a community and in my administration, no one gets left behind.” From the bottom of my heart thank you.
