About us
disABILITY LINK is a grassroots, peer-led Center for Independent Living (CIL) committed to advancing disability rights, accessibility, and inclusion. We are a non-medical organization that values self-determination, dignity, and respect for all individuals. We advocate for human rights—not special rights— and work to remove barriers so people with disabilities can fully participate in their communities. disABILITY LINK services are available to persons with disabilities, their families, and communities throughout Metro Atlanta and surrounding counties including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton, Rockdale Counties, and limited services in Butts, Lamar, Meriwether, Pike, Spalding, and Upson Counties. Our Core Services • Advocacy – Fighting for accessibility, equal rights, and policy change. • Independent Living Skills – Empowering individuals to live independently. • Information & Referral – Connecting people to vital community resources. • Peer Counseling – Support from those with lived experience. Transition Services – Assisting youth with disabilities and individuals moving from institutions to independent living. Beyond these five core services, we offer additional programs designed to promote inclusion, leadership, and community engagement. Join us in breaking barriers and building a more inclusive future!

I had the privilege of spending the day with Kim Gibson, DSW, LMSW, Executive Director of disABILITY LINK. Our journey started at Stone Mountain Park, followed by a powerful visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. Center. We enjoyed a delicious Italian lunch, took in the views at SkyView Atlanta, explored downtown Decatur, and even joined the vibrant Pan African Festival. We ended the evening back at Stone Mountain Park laser show - the perfect close to a day filled with history, culture, and inspiration. Grateful for this wonderful experience and the opportunity to see so much in just one day! #LeadershipJourney #CulturalExperience #MandelaWashingtonFellowship #StoneMountain #MLKCenter #Decatur #PanAfricanFestival #InclusiveLeadership #Gratitude

Yes, I’m Disabled... But I’m not broken. I’m not less than. I’m not a burden. I’m not invisible. I’m not fragile. I’m not asking too much. I’m not the problem. I’m not less worthy. I’m not difficult. I’m not a side note. I’m not a checkbox. I am so much more than your ableist assumptions, stereotypes, pity, or inspiration porn. Image Description: A Disabled by Society graphic titled, “Yes, I’m Disabled. But here’s what I’m not…”. The graphic is set on an off black background. Below the title twelve illustrated stick people representing visible and non-visible Disabilities, each with a statement underneath. They read: I’m not broken, I’m not impaired, I’m not less than, I’m not a burden, I’m not invisible, I’m not fragile, I’m not asking too much, I’m not the problem, I’m not less worthy, I’m not difficult, I’m not a side note, I’m not a checkbox. #DisabledBySociety #Ableism #WednesdayWisdom #Ableism

Accommodations aren't special treatment — they're how we ensure equal access. Whether it's a ramp, captioning, or flexible schedules, accommodations help people with disabilities fully participate in work, school, and community life. Inclusion starts with access. #DisabilityRights #AccessibilityMatters
