On August 6, 2025, President Trump announced an additional 25 percent tariff on goods from India in response to its continued purchase of Russian oil. This is on top of the 25 percent reciprocal tariff set to take effect on August 7. Goods already subject to Section 232 tariffs or exempt from reciprocal tariffs will not be impacted. The new tariff will be enforced starting August 27.
Last week, Expeditors in India hosted a Focus Group in Bangalore, bringing together experts to explore customs processes in both the United States and India. This event brought together a diverse group of participants from various industries. Notable presentations included Vivek K. Kumar's session on Onyx Strategic Insights, Dana Lorenze's talk on Processes and Regulations: Similarities and Variations Across Countries, and Ziad Sarkis's discussion on Internal Process and Solutions. An engaging Q&A session followed the presentations, and the event concluded with a delightful networking lunch!
