🚨 Employee Spotlight: Daniel Postell Ink Technician | Fortis Solutions Group | Connecticut Plant Daniel Postell is an Ink Technician at our Connecticut plant, supporting three flexo presses running nearly 280 hours a week and producing about 55 containers of ink. His day-to-day includes coordinating with shift teams, prepping inks for upcoming jobs, and working closely with press operators to ensure color precision and consistency. 🎨 On the Job Growth Daniel joined Fortis in April 2025 with manufacturing experience but no prior background in ink production. With strong support from the Connecticut plant team, he quickly ramped up. “From the GM to the shipping operator, everyone works as a caring team,” Daniel shares. “People were eager to teach and embraced my learning style.” ✅ Proud Accomplishment He’s been instrumental in a waste-reduction initiative that involves shifting color adjustments from press to the ink station. This proactive approach has streamlined production and improved efficiency. Management even provided outside training to help Daniel lead the effort with confidence. 💬 A New Perspective Daniel says he’s recently shifted his focus outward, listening more, appreciating others, and being present in ways that make a real difference. That mindset, he says, helps him show up fully for his team every day. 🔍 Fun Fact Many of the labels produced at Daniel’s plant were already on his shopping list, something he didn’t realize until joining Fortis. At Fortis Solutions Group, printing isn’t just a profession — it’s a legacy. Meet Chris Johnston, one of our talented process engineers, whose story is a true testament to the generational pride and craftsmanship that runs deep in our industry. Chris comes from a long line of press operators. His grandfather, Dick Johnston, ran “New Era” flexo presses and made leather patches for Levi’s jeans. His father, Jim Johnston, spent 30 years on Mark Andy presses, printing pressure-sensitive and tag stock. Chris himself ran printing presses for 20 years even working on the same Mark Andy press as his dad, on opposite shifts! Over time, Chris grew from lead operator to supervisor, then production manager, and now a process engineer. Today, the Johnston legacy continues with Chris’s son, Kendal, who just started running a Mark Andy press at Fortis Solutions Group. Between the four generations, the Johnston family has run every model of Mark Andy from the classic 2200s to the latest P series. We’re proud to have Chris on our team and to be part of a story that celebrates craftsmanship, growth, and the future of flexo.
