Selena Gomez and Rare Beauty show the world that accessibility is the new luxury! Launching their new fragrance the bottle got just as much attention as the scent. The bottle was designed with input from a hand therapist; it has an easy-grip shape and a spray mechanism that requires very little force. That means it is usable for people with limited hand mobility, including those living with arthritis or lupus, which Gomez herself has spoken openly about. #WeApprove #YesAccess #Innovation #AccessibilityMatters

EHS Today shares our workplaces often do not include people with disabilities in their emergency evacuation plans. Not everyone can evacuate down a multi-story building with speed. ✅ Survey your employees annually about their needs. ✅ Companies should have an update to date list of employees who made need assistance - this includes temporary disabilities like a broken leg. ✅ Make sure any evacuation devices are in good working order. They should regularly be tested. ✅ Conduct regular training and drills. #AccessibilityMatters #HumanResources #Operations #EmergencyPreparedness

The Independent shares a rise in multi-generational living. A new study from Uplifts said 49% of 2,000 people surveyed in the UK live in households with multiple generations. But is your home ready and equipped for those aging and for youngsters? Here are a few tips to make your home more accessible, and to work for everyone. ✅ Widen doorways to accommodate mobility aids. ✅ Good lighting - especially in staircases and bathrooms. ✅ Separate living areas - allowing privacy, independence and preferences for relaxing and entertaining. ✅ Accessible bathrooms - grab bars, doors that open out etc. ✅ Elevators or lifts - provide options for multiple floors - or create a first floor bedroom. ✅ Kitchen modifications allowing for people to sit or stand while preparing food. #Multigenerational #YesAccess #AccessibilityMatters

According to the Office of Disability Employment Policy the unemployment rate for people with disabilities has risen by 1.4% since June to 10%. The unemployment rate for people without disabilities is 4.3% - it rose .01% since June. BenefitsPRO shares despite years of progress in workplace equity, accessibility remains one of the most overlooked aspects of the employee experience. It's important to note, the barriers to thriving at work aren't always visible. 📍 57% of employees do not disclose a disability. 📍 Accessibility goes beyond ramps, and automatic doors. It's flexible work arrangements, captions in meetings, written materials in advance of meetings etc. 📍 The ADA is the floor not the ceiling. Go beyond the most basic requirements. 📍 Not everyone wants to disclose -77% of those with disabilities want to anonymously access tools and services. Great article in MarTech about how compliance is a competitive advantage for companies that understand the opportunities. Instead of treating privacy, consent, accessibility or sustainability requirements as roadblocks, marketers can treat them as creative prompts. Transparency, fairness and inclusion aren’t boxes to tick — they’re ingredients for more compelling brand stories and engaging experiences. Bottom line: Innovative compliance is a differentiator. Sometimes it's good to get back to basics. HR Dive shares some reminders on what the ADA covers and what you can ask in an interview. 🛑 Before an offer - no medical questions allowed (you can't ask about history of sick leave, workers comp etc.) ✅ Post offer - screenings and exams are allowed BUT be consistent. These screenings should be completed by everyone not just those you think might have a disability. 👍 Screenings don't bypass the interactive process. If something is discovered in a screening HR should engage in the interactive process to understand how best to support the employee. #DisabledAndCapable #BetterWorkplaces #HumanResources

Representation matters! Primark launches a new mannequin that uses a wheelchair, to attract the 16% of the population in the UK with disabilities. The launch of the mannequin coincided with the expansion of Primark’s adaptive clothing collection. The collection features magnetic closures, elasticated waistbands etc. Many garments are designed specifically for seated wearers.
