At the 2025 AIAA Aviation Forum, Andy Thurling built on Tom's message to Congress, warning that without stronger policy enforcement, unauthorized flights will continue to put critical operations like wildfire suppression and disaster response at risk. Integrating advanced autonomy into the national airspace.
About us
DroneUp is building the future of autonomous systems integration, with a core mission to make America’s airspace smarter and safer. Founded by a Navy nuclear engineer and combat veteran, our team of elite software architects have developed a groundbreaking interoperability platform that empowers autonomous systems—across air, land, and sea—to communicate and coordinate seamlessly, regardless of manufacturer or protocol. The same proprietary technology that optimized package delivery now scales to support complex missions—enabling real-time deconfliction of crewed and uncrewed aircraft, dynamic mission replanning, and resilient performance in GPS- or comms-denied environments. At the core is our custom-built translation layer and edge computing framework, designed to handle the demands of contested, congested airspace. DroneUp is revolutionizing airspace management—delivering innovation-first, mission-ready solutions that grow with national demand and set a new standard for autonomy, interoperability, and safety in U.S. airspace.

Tom and Rep. Gimenez discuss the critical balance between knowing what's in the sky and being able to respond in real-time. Spoiler alert: both are simultaneously important. Get a breakdown of the hearing or watch a full replay: https://lnkd.in/gvxGcduy

Thank you to Julia Bonavita and Fox News for the opportunity to expand on the critical discussion around drone threats and national airspace security following this month’s congressional hearing. These challenges are no longer theoretical. They demand urgent, coordinated solutions to protect our skies, critical infrastructure, and national security. "We don’t have awareness of our airspace. We don’t have a common operating picture. We can’t look at a picture, and see all of the drones and manned aircraft and say, ‘Here’s who this is and here’s what they’re doing.’" Tom Walker Read the full article here: bit.ly/45wpADN

Last week, Tom Walker called on Congress to take airspace threats seriously. In this op-ed for Fox News, he's doubling down on that message while offering a clear roadmap for securing America's airspace. Read the full op-ed: https://lnkd.in/eWZYbjis

Yesterday’s U.S. House Homeland Security Subcommittee hearing made one thing clear: drone threats are imminent, and we urgently need an integrated airspace management system to address them. Formed in the wake of 9/11, the committee doesn’t take this lightly, and nor do the witnesses. As Chairman Gimenez warned, we didn’t see 9/11 coming, but we see this coming. Now it’s time to collaborate, implement, and protect America’s skies before it’s too late. Tom and his fellow witnesses emphasized that the technology to safely coordinate our skies already exists. What we need now is the national will to implement it—before it’s too late. Watch a replay of the hearing and see Tom’s full written testimony below.

Today, I testified before the U.S. House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security to address the urgent need for an integrated airspace management system. The threat is real and growing. Drones are disrupting airports, surveilling critical infrastructure, and interfering with emergency response. Yet, we still rely on fragmented tools and outdated processes. We need a unified national framework that provides real-time visibility, ties flights to verified operators, and empowers responders before lives are at risk. Thank you to Chairman Gimenez and Ranking Member McIver for leading this critical hearing. I was honored to join such distinguished industry leaders, including Church Hutton, Brett Feddersen and Michael Robbins, in calling for action. https://lnkd.in/ewYfpyWr #AirspaceSecurity #DronePolicy #IntegratedAirspace #NationalSecurity #CongressionalTestimony
