The role of the Chief People Officer is rapidly evolving—shaping culture, leading transformation, and influencing boards. Last week in Houston, we joined businessfourzero - a Heidrick & Struggles company and peers to explore what it will take for people leaders to thrive in 2030. Together we discussed the expanding role of the CHRO/CPO, core leadership mindsets for success, and more. Big thanks to our team Jennifer Wilson, Madison Hess, Holly McLeod, Beth Stromstedt Reale, Adam Rubin, Les T. Csorba, Clayton Sears, Yahya Khan, Ashley Beavan, MBA, ACC, Travis Radford, and more for making it such a great event.
What will be the same, and what will be very different, for CPOs in 2030? On Tuesday in Houston, we brought 35 CPOs together to stress-test that question, in collaboration with our colleagues in the CHRO Practice at Heidrick & Struggles. We all know the remit for CPOs is widening fast. We also know that’s happening in a global context where volatility is now the backdrop, not a passing trend. So it was hugely inspiring to hear the room of CPOs talking about what’s giving them energy to lead boldly and optimistically through the chaos in the next five years, namely: - HR’s increasing positioning at the centre of enterprise transformation, not just bureaucracy - Strengthened trust with C-suite and Board peers, leading to greater strategic influence - The chance to orchestrate multi-faceted transformations where culture, leadership, and technology converge. Thanks again to everyone who contributed — we were left hugely energised and inspired by the ambition and energy in the room. #purpose #leadership #culture #performance #transformation
