Infection Control Today® reposted this
Reposting and strongly supporting this op-ed by Alex Sundermann and Miranda Yaver in The Hill on the critical role of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). AHRQ is small but mighty. Its research has saved billions and protected countless patients. We can’t afford to lose it. I stand with those calling for continued investment in AHRQ and the science of safer, smarter care. #PatientSafety #HealthcareQuality #AHRQ #PublicHealth #HealthPolicy #EvidenceBasedCare #SupportAHRQ #AHRQRocks!
My colleague Miranda Yaver and I have a new op-ed in The Hill on the Trump administration’s proposed cut of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). AHRQ is the only federal agency dedicated to how health care is delivered. Its work has reduced hospital-acquired infections, saved $28 billion in costs, and supported preventive care coverage for Medicare and Medicaid patients. Cutting AHRQ - just 0.02% of the HHS budget - would weaken patient safety, drive up costs, and strip away a vital source of health care delivery science. Infection prevention is not an expense, it’s an investment,” the study authors stressed, urging C-suite leaders to address burnout, recognize IP contributions, and build hospital-wide collaboration. https://hubs.li/Q03HykZw0
