This summer, 50 high school students joined Jackson Health System as part of our 2025 Miracle VolunTEEN Program for an impactful four-week volunteer experience across our campuses. These remarkable young people, in their distinctive blue jackets, made a real difference for our patients and staff, learning directly from our teams and experiencing what Jackson’s CARE values are all about.   The program kicked off in June with a welcome event led by Chief Human Resources Officer Michelle Kligman, and continued with hands-on healthcare experience, meaningful patient interactions, and weekly lunch-and-learn sessions with inspiring Jackson leaders. Strong representation from Miami Transplant Institute at the Annual Society of Robotic Surgery | SRS in Strasbourg, France with Dr. Gaetano Ciancio, Dr. Rodrigo Vianna, and Dr. Mahmoud Morsi! The doctors shared their expertise on robotic transplantation and led discussions on robotic surgery with global innovators. After introducing a dedicated robotic transplant session at the 2024 meeting in Orlando, our team is looking forward to continuing these sessions at next year’s congress in Hollywood, Florida. The lung transplant team at Miami Transplant Institute reached a remarkable milestone with the completion of our 500th lung transplant since our lung transplant program began in 1996. For nearly three decades, patients with the most complex and life-threatening lung conditions have turned to MTI for a second chance at life. This progress has been possible thanks to a deeply experienced multidisciplinary team of thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, cardiologists, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians, transplant coordinators, and many others who dedicate themselves to each patient’s journey. For the third consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has recognized Lynn Rehabilitation Center as one of the best rehabilitation hospitals in the United States. U.S. News evaluated 1,049 rehab hospitals and ranked the top 50 for their care of patients recovering from events such as stroke, traumatic brain injuries and severe burns. This year, we climbed to number 28, placing us in the top three percent nationwide. We also thank the rehabilitation services team at Jackson North Medical Center, which extends this exceptional care to patients in northern Miami-Dade. Jackson South Medical Center is opening a new chapter for cardiac care in south Miami-Dade. This expansion includes a state-of-the-art heart catheterization lab and a larger Jackson Heart Institute practice with 18 exam rooms and a dedicated stress echo testing area. Expert cardiac and vascular surgeons from across our System will rotate through the practice, ensuring patients have access to advanced treatments and follow-up care in one location. These enhancements strengthen Jackson’s cardiology network across Miami, improving access and expanding capabilities for patients and physicians alike.
